12 volt compressor running constant

The 12 volt compressor in the basement was running non stop, pulled the fuse.

Constant air flow out of valve by compressor.  Not sure what term to search to find previous threads on this issue.

HWH Solenoid Valve Rebuild

HWH Filters and Bowls

That's the bowl with the NO solenoid that's supposed to close when the aux compressor is running and open when it's not to expel condensate (and unload the compressor).  Valve seat is notorious for picking up schmutz as the condensate blows out when it opens.  We always carried a spare/rebuilt one (solenoid valve), so check your "box o' parts"  ;) )

ETA there should be 12V at that solenoid when the aux compressor is running in order to close that solenoid valve.  Check that as well.

ETA2 - if the bowl itself is cracked, FOT parts is going to be your quickest solution.  Northwest RV Supply does do drop ship from HWH on some of the RAPxxxx parts as well.

Thank You!!!

There was a previously cleaned used  solenoid in the parts box.  I installed that and then cleaned out the one I removed for future use if needed.

Most of the debris was in the bowl itself, very little in the solenoid.

Working great now.

Fast fix on a Sunday with your guidance.

Glad that fixed it!

That NO solenoid was Steve's version of the furnace in "A Christmas Story"...  I don't think one ever lasted more than 3 years before we had to swap it out again.

Speaking of which, I need to get a spare one for our new parts box (it's number 150 on the "Coach Projects" spreadsheet, and I won't share the adjective I included in the description  :-X .)  Happy to take a used one off someone's hands if they aren't going to refurb it.

Carry a 1/8 inch pipe plug which in an emergency you can screw into the outlet where the air was coming out. That way you can still get air pressure to operate the slide rooms.
