Window Awning Hold Down Hook

I have to replace a awning Hold Down Hook under the bedroom window, it is gone all together.  Nothing but holes there.  Does not look like the rivets pulled out, but more like the rivets broke.  ZipDee is sending me the kit with rivets.  The rest of them on my coach are held on with  Hex Head Steel Sheet Metal Screw.  Has anyone had trouble with the special ZipDee rivets?

Also, what should I use to make this a water tight installation?

I am not familiar withthe Zip Dee rivets.  Ours hooks are held on with stainelss steel machine screws.  Screws were covered in caulk before insertion.  I had to reseat one of the hooks and I spread a very small amount of a 3M marine sealant (either 5200 or 5250) on the back of the hook.  Hasn't budged in the past 6 months of use.
