New Kitchen Faucet

Five hours later then new faucet is in place.  Gone is the white Delta faucet that leaked around the base and was past its prime.

We went with a Moen product. Model CA87316C.  Price -- $103.

It was a real bear to take out the old and install the new.  I ended up using my Dremel to cut some parts off.  I chose not to dismantle the shelf or even undo the drain pipe.  Neither of those extra steps were worth the work. I am very fortunate to have a wife who is willing to get her hands dirty and the fact that she is ambidextrous helps a great deal.  She worked as had as I did.

The factory made a funky bracket to hold the faucet in place and for a while I thought we were going to try to have someone make something similar, but then we found a way to install the Moen using the bracket they supplied.

Final thought.  Two GUYS at Lowes could not help me find the brass reducing adapters to go from the Pex line to the new faucet hoses.  After trying 3 other hardware-type stores in Nac, I returned to Lowes in desperation.  A young woman of no more than 20 years was in the plumbing aisle.  She asked me what I needed and two minutes later I was in the check out line.

To make the connection between the Pex supply lines and the hoses attached to the faucet I used  two WATTS  A-124 (968-P) 3/8" Comp. x 1/2" MIP w/Insert.  You throw away the insert.

Well ... we really didn't like the new faucet.  Clearance was actually a little shorter than the original and the funky under-the counter support block of Corian would not allow us to get a perfectly snug contact with the top of the sink.  The faucet tilted forward just a tad, and we were willing to live with that compromise, but when it came to rinsing dishes or filling a pot -- we knew we made a bad choice.

So we went back to Lowe's and found a high rise model.  And, for some reason, the under-the-counter bracket was slightly smaller and enabled us to obtain a perfect installation.

For those who want to know it is the Anabelle design made by Moen and cost $168.
