PDI - Things to look at before buying

Quote
I also think this post can be an inspiration to perhaps another new topic, "50 things to check before you buy your used foretravel"  There are already two in here, slide delamination (and how to properly check for it) and Load range of your tires.  I'm sure we can come up with lots more that will help new folks in buying a used coach so they don't feel as overwhelmed.

Steve I have a list of things to look for at :

I am sure others have some additional things that can be added

Steve, Attached is a PDI in PDF Format  that is pretty complete.  Maybe you can make it available as a file available to everyone that does not already have it.

The lists are great, BUT it can often lead someone not familiar with machinery into a false sense of security.

As one who does mechanical inspections on motorhomes, there is a lot that is "see, touch, listen".  It takes me around two hours under a coach (Yes, I mean UNDER a coach) for just that part of the inspection.  Where do you look for cracked hydraulic pump brackets? leaking hydraulic pump and fan seals, do you know to put a torque wrench on the bulkhead bolts on unihome/unicoaches? Do you know about checking coolant for pH as well as freeze point (and SCA if standard coolant)?

I don't think there is a single motorhome owner who would not know better what to check if buying another of the same model.

Brett,

You make some good points.  But many new buyers could have a difficult time finding someone with your experience and knowledge.  I think the list would be an invaluable tool.

Thanks Barry,

Would you mind if I took that list and started a sticky post with it?  I think its a great starting point to help when buying that "new to me" coach.

Steve
