I'll post pics. next time I pull the cover again.I know the owner told me he drove it to FOT and they marveled at it. Don't know the year he made the trip.44K miles now, FOT told me it is an 80. Can't find specs. on that , but the 76 specs. on the web site don't list a 23' (which is what FOT told me it is). Maybe you can shed more light on this. GeoffAppears to be a dodge 440 chassis? In late 78 or 79 the factory had already gone to the POINTY NOSE design and so i am speculating that yours is earlier than this, maybe 76 ?Look in the photos section and find this photo of the FT Safety Coach.http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?action=media;sa=item;in=765This is a late 79 Early 80.Keep us up to date , I am curious about the history of the coach.Gary B Quote Selected

The chassis along with the (99.999% sure original) 454 is definitely GM. The gen. is a 5k Onan. Quote Selected

The early 454's were much better than the late ones as they had a different head gasket than the 80's models and ran cooler. The eight bolt wheels are interesting as the later Chevy chassis were 5 bolt. Great find. Bob Quote Selected
Re: Newbie here....What the heck year is my Foretravel??? Reply #34 – May 15, 2012, 09:04:19 am Geoff, The first FT's from about 73 had flat noses as yours does, at some point , I think in 77,78,79 they went to the pointy nose, these may have also been termed FTX's. In about 89 they went to what we now term the Grand Villa with the slanted front . In the showroom at NAC is what I think is the first FT and it looks remarkably like yours. Call the factory and talk with Tyle Fore, he is the G'son of the original owner and if he cannot enlighten you he probably can find someone who can. Mr. Fore has passed away buy Ray Fore who ran the company for a long time is probably still around.Keep digging, if nothing else you keep the rest of us informed about FT history.Gary B Quote Selected

The first person I talked to at FOT had told me based on the Vin. it was a 23' 1980 with a build # around 250 which I misplaced, so I don't have the exact B # I was told. I can tell it has never been altered in any way I can only get 23 1/2 feet at the longest measure point. Engine manufactured in 73. Had points-condenser that I just replaced with electronic.Geoff Quote Selected

I may be overly nostalgic, but when you're done with that coach, if you keep it as well as it has been all its life, the RV museum in Elkhart, IN may want it from you...or the mothership for showroom strutting.Peter Quote Selected
