Al,

Are you at 32.5" ride height front and back? I have seen many with more ride height in front than back, which makes the back much more susceptible to dragging (and also makes for poorer handling).

Is there a lot of clearance between the engine protection cage and the pan?  There was on our U240.  I marked ours, removed it  (bolted on) and had a welder raise it quite a bit.

Al,
You've already done the hard part.  You like the way the coach performs and provides for your needs. If your only concern is getting in/out of gas stations with grades that could rub the undercarriage, my suggestion is very simple: find good ole truck fueling stations to fill up with fuel, like a Love's or Flying J, etc.

Or, you could just say...it's only money and find another Foretravel with air bags and then you can manually raise the coach to enter the fueling station with ease of mind.

Any Foretravel with the air ride suspension will cost quite a bit more than the U225.  But I think you already know that.

Don't paint unless you are sure you will keep 5-10 years, period. Keep a couple of years and trade as is (roof ok to paint by itself though).

If you are getting any FT paint work done, check with Xtreme as alternative.

Brett  Ride hight is at 32.5 back and front and it rides very nice. After we did the upgrades to front end Dave Cobb drove it and he said that if his U225 rode like that he would have not sold it. This was before we  installed the sumo shocks in the back; it even rides better now.  I need to look in to the cage to see if anything can be done as you did to your 240.

Peter  yes I pick and choose very carefully where I fuel.
Tim I did have good conversations and a bid from Xtreme too; they are very nice and i know they do great work. Just choose FT.

Everything is a compromise, and each of us has to decide what is and is not important for US. John's dream coach is similar to mine, but I don't want a driver's door, dishwasher, or a king bed. A lifting or steerable tag would be good. A light exterior color is a must.

Local fuel stations are a PITA, the Awnings are made for cars, Not Coachs, I have to watch the roof closely,

Entering the Servo is a Brain Numbing Experience, I have to pick my line in and out before I enter the Servo,

A Deep Gutter at the entrance , I scrape the motor cage, If I am not extremely carefull,

The side radiator is the Worry, It does scrape, on a slope, I was very lucky with that one, WHoooo, Close to destruction,

Now its truck servo's only, They have a flat surface through out, No Scraping worrys,

Backing up a slope, Keep your eye on the Engine Filters and Side Radiator,, They do scrape,
