According to Wyatt, 6-12 months on desulfanators. Any battery will benefit from a desulfanator, some will recover, others won't, maybe Wyatt can chime in and explain why that is the case. At $25 each for a wizbang desulfanator on amazon, I put one each in fall on my house batteries. Will see how they do come May after being plugged in all winter with charger live and being desulfanated.

Bought three new red tops, installed dedicated battery minder 1500 combination charger/maintainer/desulfanator on those when they went in last fall.

Had echo charger from Xantrax which indicated it was charging, but wasn't. Stupid me took two sets of red tops to figure it out.

In my u-270 I had to replace echo charger twice due to unit failures.

No more Diode based chargers for me.......

HF has a high frequency 1.5 amp charger for $22. 1.5 Amp Three Stage Onboard Battery Charger/Maintainer  While some desulfanators rely on battery voltage to operate, this one charges also.

Yes, on house, they are passive and always on.

Whiz bang is what Wyatt uses and recommends, there is no way to switch off

Not sure how batteryminder 1500 does it on red tops, suspect they switch modes.

I have a Schumacher 75A 3 stage, microprocessor charger maintainer. Says high frequency, charges flood, agm and gel. Am I good to go?

Pierce, is the charger you showed me on HF any different? ???

I added a single Nanopulser to my house batteries about five years ago, and up until a couple of months ago the batteries have given me very good service, essentially full capacity. I finally put in new house batteries when one of them developed an intermittent shorted cell.

Think it's the same but I'm not really a charger expert. I read the reviews and think I will pick up a couple during our drought ending? rain this week. Would suggest you check your battery manufacture's home page for advise and tips.
