Last year, Bev e-mailed George Hatfield a PDF or JPEG copy of the agenda which he then posted.  Perhaps someone could ask her for one to post or if Foretravel sees this, they could post it themselves.

Well, rats. :(

We were trying everything we could to get to our first Grandvention. Looks like it just is not in the cards. We had an issue arise with the clockspring mechanism in our steering wheel and it grounded our coach for over two months while another was being manufactured. Finally got on the road for our first trip, leaving from MOT this morning (after their usual fantastic service and support--despite being held captive, along with us, by the parts manufacturer). Unfortunately, we have some business to take care of in Colorado that must be done before the Grandvention. Was no problem on our original schedule, but the additional delays have cut it too short.

I hope everyone has a great time. We were so looking forward to meeting fellow Foretravelers. Everyone we have met to date has been super nice and so helpful. We've put 2015 Grandvention on our schedule--maybe by then it will be an event to meet up with old friends we've met on the road!

We wish all a safe journey with nothing but enjoyable memories.

Sorry to see you will not be there Don, I was hoping to meet up with you but we can always meet up one day in VA.

I will be leaving for OK tomorrow and will be at twin fountains for a couple days prior. Decided to stay there instead of going in early so we could visit some friend who live over that way and it will save 30 miles of driving.

I am at Twin Fountains and it is a very nice park. It has great wifi and nice hookups and a nice concrete pad. I hope the GV location is as nice.

The Heart of Oklahoma website states they have WiFi. The pictures appear to show the pads to be grass or gravel. I do not think it will be as nice as Twin Fountains. However, I have never been to either one.

Twin Fountains is a nicely landscaped and laid out park. Roads are wide and easy to back into my site. The sites all seem to have a nice level spot int he middle of about 40 feet so even the longest rig can be level pretty easily. The approach is concrete too. The wifi is good and the power and water as well. There are two sewer connections a site too. It seems that they are a bit too far back and too far forward for a long Motorhome but for a class C or 5th wheel they would be in the right place.  I will dump when I leave.

THere is road noise front he elevated portion of the highway right near us and the sites are pretty close together. They did use the topography well. I can sit at my picnic table and touch the guys tow vehicle that is parked in his spot.  I say that so you are aware of it.  I would be happy to stay here again.  It is really a lovely park and one of the nicest inner city parks I have seen.  I just hope the GV is at as nice a site but I fear it will not be.

As a side note on getting here. Se came from the west on 40 and when you get off the interstate on 44 north it is a left exit which is odd. Then when you go a few miles and get off on MLK you think you are  suppose to turn but you go straight across into this one lane road. Felt odd and there are no signs. The campground is up the road about a mile.

Well, the first afternoon and night is done.

We had a great dinner and a fun time playing bingo. the prizes were the best I have seen and ran the gamut from cleaning products to kindle Fire to 250 dollar parts and service certificate.  It was great to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. I will say that i fyou can make this event, you should as you will get to see and speak with lots of people who own FTs and well as lots of people from Nacogdoches.

The afternoon presentation was by Lyle Reed.  He started off saying Greg Is totally retired now.  He is stepping up to fill in again.  THat the new Realm is doing well and they are considering an entry level FT. The old line was that was our used coaches but now they might consider making a new shorter FT on another chassis. What that will be is dependent on what is decided. How will that be decided is by talking with owners and seeing what they want and if they will commit to ordering one and then they will do the engineering. It will probably have a smaller engine in it as that is the highest cost item and less slides. It might even be a 96 inch wide unit too.  Time will tell but they are thinking about it. They are building a lot of shells for two different companies.  One inOH and one in Texas. They have the first Realm out to a Nascar driver and Lyle said that MHS is a huge operation. I understand the next couple are pre sold too.

The fact that they are  producing so many shell coaches is reducing the overhead they have for the FT coach. They are only building IH models right now but will build a Nimbus or Phenix if ordered.

SO it seems that after years of asking, they are finally listening to the marketplace and looking at different options.  There was a question will you build a 38 foot Foretravel for 500K. He hemmed and hawed and wavered a bit and said then that it could not have too many slides and could not have a big engine.  It seems there is a desire for a smaller lighter coach that is still a FT and that was what most of the questions revolved around.

A little off topic but after Mr. Reed's address to the Grandvention members I was looking at the Motor Home Specialist website. They are offering a $20,000 factory rebate on the 2014 ih45's that they have for sale.

Maybe someone who travels with a printer can create a few Forum signs for folks?  Here's the base template:

Thanks, John for the updates.  We were hoping to make it this year but stuff happens.  I am really missing the chance to meet the people whose names I know from the forum.  Hello to all of you!

Interesting discussion about a new entry level coach.  In another five years we might think about a newer coach like many owners.  There is very little out there we have seen that when they are 8-10 years old would appeal to us.  We will keep ours running.  The shiny hard surface look appeals to many I am sure.  I would like to see a Greene and Greene or Stickley inspired coach.  I like wood.
