Need Javalina Replacement advice. My rear camera and all tank guages don't work.

Has anyone advice on replacing the Javalina rear camera and tank guage on a 1994 U280.
Thanks, Dick Boggs

Dick,

Tim at RV Cams: Backup Camera Systems (All) can walk you through options-- he is very familiar with Foretravels and what is needed to use the existing coach wiring to "plug and play" a new-generation system.

Do you still have the original monitor?

Dick, many of us have switched to SeeLevel tank monitors.  If your tanks are taller than 16" then ypu may need a second set of the strips that stick on the tanks.  If so then sometimes you can get two three strip kit and have two monitors.

Battery, fresh, black, gray, LP

This shop usually has pretty good prices but shop around.

I have an original monitor - working when I removed it. Do  you need it? PM me if so.

Our original system was DOA when we got the coach. I installed a wireless backup camera and ran the video cable from the Javalina to our television. After a couple of years of that, I decided that I didn't really need to have the tank information. I can easily see the propane whenever I get fuel and the fresh water tank is visible every time I connect the electric cord. We can comfortably go a week without needing to fill or dump, so I dump whenever I need to fill.

Actually, to forestall other comments, I fill before we leave a FHU site and dump when I arrive at a campground. If I'm going to be driving for several days in a row I may not dump every time.

I took Brett's advice and called RV cams; they sent me a replacement monitor and backup cam and all of the adapters to hook up the new camera.  So far, I have the monitor in place. It works perfectly with the old Audit Javelina system out of the box.  You merely need to hook up the power leads and use the adapter provided for the old video feed. It was an easier installation than I though it would be, and I back mounted it behind the dash panel using the old hardware, some Velcro, and some double sided clear 3M tape.

My U295 already had side cameras installed. The image is much clearer with the new monitor but the old backup camera has a really poor image.  Like David & DC, I have the old color monitor which still worked when I removed it, if someone wants it. I took the back part of the bracket off and re-used it to mount the new monitor, but all of the original connectors and the dimmer potentiometer are still attached.
