Re: Kenny Lemon has a question about Quartzsite January 2019 Reply #38 – January 03, 2019, 09:45:29 am Is there a generator area vs a solar/no-generator area? I ask because if it doesn't warmup, I will be running my Generator for heat. Quote Selected
Re: Kenny Lemon has a question about Quartzsite January 2019 Reply #39 – January 03, 2019, 09:57:07 am No, just ask before you park next to anyone. let them know you might run it.. as long as there windows ar closed and your not next to the window.. shouldnt be a problem with noise .. I parked about 50' away from the nearest guy and ran my genny all weekend last year.. no problem. Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: Kenny Lemon has a question about Quartzsite January 2019 Reply #40 – January 03, 2019, 09:57:40 am Quote from: George and Steph – January 03, 2019, 12:52:26 amFor new folks what is the informal parking etiquette? When you get there, it will be obvious where you can drive and park, and where you can't. Most of the ground is totally dry barren hard packed gravel/caliche that is suitable for safe RV driving and parking. If a parking spot is not obviously already occupied or reserved, then it is fair game. Possession is 9/10ths... Any place you see any vegetation growing should be avoided, because it can conceal very loose sandy soil, and it is also where the water runs when it rains (see "desert dry wash"). Watch out for old fire pits, which may be encountered anywhere! Campers often burn wood pallets, and the tire killer nails are left behind when the fire burns down.As to gen/no gen...no, there aren't any "designated areas". If you think you'll be running your generator on a regular basis, be a nice guy and don't park right next to your neighbor's bedroom window. There is LOTS of space at Q - plenty of room to spread out so everyone will be happy. Quote Selected 5 Likes

Re: Kenny Lemon has a question about Quartzsite January 2019 Reply #42 – January 16, 2019, 08:15:39 pm I talked to Ken Lemon today. He is in Yuma. Kenny told me, not hearing from anyone, he did not bring his big pots from Colorado this year. Hope he makes a visit, but I don't think he will be cooking. Maybe if a group coordinates with Kenny, he could bring his pots for next year? Or the group could get together this year for a pot luck and invite Kenny ahead of time. Quote Selected
