I got 5 gallons of synthetic (can't remember what exactly the weight was, but it doesn't matter) from my local truck parts supply place. It took near all 5 gallons to fill my rear after I changed out the differential.  I ran walmart dino oil for a couple thousand at first to clean out any gunk, then put the synthetic in and will never have to change it again!

I bought a 5 gallon bucket of 80w-90 conventional to change mine. It was under $100 and it used all but a few ounces. I wasnt sure how full it was or what condition the old (likely original) fluid was, but was surprised that I got nothing but clean oil out. Cheap peace of mind.

How do you drain it? Does it have an bolt that is taken out? Never looked at it. Thanks
