Antenna proximity switch removal

I removed the Over the air digital raise up antenna and replaced it with a short up all the time king jack antenna.. I need to disable the antenna up switch because I don't need it anymore. Is it a simple mercury type switch that makes a circuit when the mercury goes one way?is it a simple disconnect?can I just cut the wires and either tie them together or leave them apart, whichever way keeps the light and buzzer off... can it be that simple?

Yes. It should be that simple.

If you have a satellite dish on your coach you can use it on that.

I replaced mine last week, you should be able to just cut and cap the wires.
My warning didn't work but "part time" so I removed the magnetic "Guard" switch and it had corroded terminals. With the new switch and the antenna up the warning light will come on if the ignition is on. Lower the antenna and the magnet activates the switch and opens the contacts keeping indicator light out.
At least that was the way mine worked.

We replaced the crank-up antenna with a fixed-height one earlier this year. Yes, the dash light stays on, but no buzzer. One of these days I'll take out the bulb, but in the meantime it isn't hurting anything.

You could also put a piece of painted steel on the magnet sensor so that the antenna is always down.

Keith,

Look at the current set up on the Wingard antenna arm.  I know earlier models used simple, common magnetic switches-- same as on house security systems.

If so, should only take you a minute to remove the two wires and with the help of an observer inside determine if they need to be wired together or separated to turn off the light.  I am betting on the latter.

Just cut the wires and leave them apart. Do NOT twist them together. That simple.

Yep
Cut and cap (insulate) the wires. Separately
Light should stay out.

Chris, yes thats a hustler cb mount with a firestik
Fiberglass antenna.  The squiggly plastic antenna was FT installed telephone antenna.
My 1996 has a caulked hole where that wire going to your dome was.  I had no dome.
I just installed a ham radio coax nmo mount where the 1/2" hole telephone mount was.
