Replacement Ice Maker

So once I realized that the motor was bad in my old icemaker I gave up on it and ordered a new cheap one. The wiring  plug is different but for 47$ I'll make it work. Figured out wiring and swapped plugs. Used environmental splices. Next difference was old unit has a Freon cold pad that I want to reinstall, but couldn't fine any heat/cold conductive clay or whatever it is?  I still have some conductive cement from my aqua hot so  it says it's the same conductance as steel. It's probably the best I can do unless someone has a better idea?

I can't imagine your conductive cement would work any different than spending $21 for "norcold thermal mastic" on Amazon.

I floated the plate on and will use Dow Corning 340 wetted into a cloth for the other plate and Freon cooler

So on the 320 am I correct in assuming that the cold plate attached to the ice maker  is primarily for making ice cubes.
What would happen if it had a layer of styrofoam on the outside of the plate reducing cold from thermal siphoning off the bottom of the plate and retaining against ice tray? This would also be a soft cushion to help push it , hold it snug against the bottom with the help of a thin aluminum plate outside sandwiched to it?

So started warm fridge and after a hour is is making a tray of cubes every 30 minutes. Freezer temp down to 23 and Freon plate at -22. Freezer normally runs at 5 deg. Way better than my house.  Now if it would work this good in the summer. Will let it run threw several more cycles. Can't imagine a uline making more than this.  Have to get some feedback from Twig for comparison. I'm happy either way. Got Ice!

Looks like you are doing prit-ty darn good. I can only give you my experiences. I put a $45 unit in a U-line and could only get a 1/2 bucket a day. I noticed that the U-line units were $250 so I didn't bother. Same with the $45 unit in my Dometic refrigerator. 1/2 bucket a day. Come fix mine.

Come to think of it, does your ice maker have it's own compressor down below? Maybe that's the difference. Mine doesn't. Still doesn't explain the U-line, though.

Yes my 320 has the Freon compressor for the ice maker chill plate. Last I checked -22 at ice maker +23 in the freezer. But it takes 115 volt ac to run it. I'm curious if the ice maker will work if the compressor is off if the freezer is cold enough, I'll know soon enough though

It will freeze the water but it won't dump until the 110 is on.

I verified this, with ice maker selected off electrically. Was hoping that the ice maker would still work without Freon running. I see no reason it couldn't be enabled, on the list. Just would be much slower, but only running tray shouldn't be a issue.
