What you have circled in red is the discharge form the dryer to the wet tank.  I can see the other hose that is from the compressor and the isolation valve isn't in that line. There don't appear to be any extra hoses hanging or tied up and plugged.  That may be the OEM dryer as it sure looks tired.

Not on mine, the larger line loops up and straight to the back of the compressor. The smaller line heads forward going over and around the transmission into the wet tank. No obvious valve on either of the lines, or on the back of the compressor. The only other line on it is small and goes to the air governor. The PO stated he had it serviced twice in the 6 years they owned it, but couldn't tell me much more on the topic. I agree it tends to look original.

thanks for a solid link on a source. I found that one earlier today. I also Called Napa back with the DA33100x number and they can have me one overnight for about $100 less than the PSC place. Will probably go that route this time when I get back home next week.

Unknown on the compressor at the moment, crawled under last night to see could I get a model # on just the drier, and was curious about an alternate approach as the OE seems not so easy to find. As ive found one at the Napa up the street probably go that route this time, as doing so many other things on the rig, really did not want to get into another mod at this time.

What causes the core to go bad and need replacement?

If this is how yours is hooked up then the DA33100X will need to have the hoses swapped to the opposite positions as shown in the pic. On the DA33100X the air in is on the side and the air out comes out the bottom. The fitting on the bottom of the DA33100X has a check valve inside where the discharge hose hooks.

If you are referring to the block or body, the answer is nothing.

But, the factory remans come with new valves, new heater, etc.  Not just the filters. Basically everything but the block or body.

Particularly when factoring in labor, cost is very similar for everything inside the body new vs just filters.

On the DA33100X the air in is on the side and the air out comes out the bottom.
The reman unit will also be stamped at each inlet/outlet indicating such

Mike,  thanks for the info and will pay attention to such when I install the new. My system works flawless since purchasing last year and have not touched anything air related. Maybe the 4250 n the DA are just a tad diff in connection but identical in function. Either way my hoses are plenty long and a swap around should be no big challenge.  Thanks.

I can't give you any comparisons, but I can tell you that when I replaced our 1995 U320 air drier I replaced it with a complete rebuilt Haldex unit and it was straightforward and has performed well. I plan to replace our current one with another rebuilt Haldex unit in a few months,
I also have the 1995 U320 but after reading for weeks on the forum I still have to ask which haldex air dryer did you use and do you have the M11 as it have a special valve.

1995 U320 M11 air dryer pics. Want to replace with the reman unit , please advise on part #. It looks like it has the isolated valve based on an earlier post .

Yes you have an isolation valve that is shown in the 1st pic.
That dryer looks like a Pure air plus the DA33100X should be a factory remanufacture number
By the looks of those pics. I would sure go with a factory fresh rather than trying to do a DIY on that one.

When we purchased our 1995 U320 (Cummins M11 engine) it had a Haldex air dryer that required an external check valve and associated plumbing. I replaced it with a Haldex DA33200X with an internal check valve. It has performed flawlessly and I really like the cleaner installation without the external check valve.
