Yes, replacing the filter(s) is pretty quick and easy.

The good news with using a factory (factory that made it, NOT a "made to replace") REMAN air dryer is that it comes with not only filter(s), but also valves and 12 VDC heater.  Basically everything but the metal case is brand new.

Particularly if not interested in complete disassembly and inspection of valves, etc, the REMAN is the way to go.

If you look back on posts about dryer failures, close to half were for failure of "other than" the filters.

My suggestion is to alternate factory REMAN with just replacing the filter(s).  That way, the valves, etc are far less likely to fail.

Just took care of dryer service. Under 15 minutes to complete.

Added to your general service kit DQ6026 a complete rebuild is a bit more time consuming. Mine was sounding a bit strange when purging air found the turbo saver valve was worn out. Could have been a showstopper if one of those pieces found its way into place where it didn't belong.

It was a factory rebuilt unit at last service. Had considered doing both kits, but figure ill just install a rebuilt unit at about the fifth service. Ive read they can have corrosion issues and this would resolve that. Looked remarkably clean corrosion free, even on the raw steel in the filter. Was starting surface but great time to change. Doug how old was yours when you had issues? Maybe im expecting too long between replacements?

Scott, I would hate to guess how old that unit was when I had that issue, never had service records on the air dryer when I purchased the coach. My guess would be to rebuild lower section every other filter change to be safe. I'll replace with a re-man in the near future most likely original. Telltale sign of the turbo saver valve going out is sluggish purge of air instead of a strong sharp on/off.

I had trouble with the Air Dryer for the first time when in low temperatures 10 degrees F or below. The Air Dryer would vent on start up and the compressor wouldn't load unless I Increased the RPM's, once it cycled once it was fine. Very little water if any in the system at all. Currently home and I have ordered a new Air Dryer and Governor. The Air Dryer was replaced and has been serviced every year since 2019. What about the governor for replacement cycle's? Are there any recommended replacement time frames? Any Idea's??
