Re: Re fuel shut off solenoid on 8.2ltr detroit Reply #21 – February 06, 2024, 10:36:24 am Ah that was alright then, well I think I may have found the problem with mine, I think i had a dodgy connection on the plug, so i removed it completely and joined the wires with one of connections encased in plastic, they use them in house wiring over here, both wires go into a hole and just screw down onto them, and then a small bit of insulation then over the joiner and then sprayed it with gt65 I don't know if you have that over there, it's like wd40 butter it has ptfe in it aswell, there both made by the same company, anyway I've had the engine running for over an hr, no problem, I've switched the ignition on and off several times and the solenoid seems to be clicking in and out perfectly, the next job test the brakes, I just didnt want to be moving up and down this blokes yard and it suddenly stops, so i had to be sure, anyway I'm pretty confident now that it will be OK, I think another thing is that I only started it up just before Christmas, July was the last time before that cause I had get the brake discs turned remove my hydraulic powerhead, and then getting hold of a reconditioned one took me months of searching, ended up getting one from fleet products. Com in Canada,, anyway it maybe quite possible that because I hadn't started it up for that long, the solenoid may have just been sticking a little, causing the solenoid to get hot, and once it cooled down, it seemed to work, so anyway I've been up here everyday this week starting it, touch wood it's all OK now, anyway I tried to find a spare anyway, From one of the other chaps that posted me a linc, but they didn't have one on there website, so in the end I went back to amazon after they had put the price up to89usd from 56usd because I had left in my shopping basket for 24 hrs, anyway I took it out of the basket, and then went back on it yesterday and the price had gone back down to 52 usd, which was 4usd cheaper than the original, how that works I do not know, but anyway I thought bite the bullet, I bought one as a spare, it's made in China, if the plug dosent fit like the other chap on the forum kindly said, just cut the wires and join, which I have anyway now Quote Selected
