How long will the super cap hold the charge? Does it slowly dissipate like a normal capacitor? Or does it hold it for a long time?

With out a battery back up it will slowly discharge over a few days, I called and talked to their tech support they are pretty helpful with questions, I think I am going to get one and try it, only concern is with a big load on the system like driving at night with all the lights on

I was wondering about the discharge.  Could probably put the "charging light" on a switch between the coach and chassis to recharge it if needed, or a small solar panel to keep it up. The alternator should handle all the loads while running. Very cool option for the chassis battery.

My coach came with a Trik-L-Start charger, which maintains the start batteries/capacitor off the house batteries.  Trik-L-Start is no longer available, but this looks like the same gizmo.  Prevent Dead RV Starter Batteries – House2Start Charger

I have the amp-l-start and it is still working but if it fails I will have to use a newer system as it is no longer available either.

Installed the super cap 8.3 spins like a singer sewing machine, if this works long term will be good because it only needs 1 battery no need to buy 2 new, one thing I noticed was the battery cables are not the same lengths from the stud positive is quite a bit longer than the negative cable thought they were supposed to be the same length

I've been following this post because I knew it wouldn't be long before I needed a new starting battery. That time came last week and I was able to get a new 8D lead acid battery at the O'Rielly's in Fallon, NV for $243. They pulled the old battery out and slid the new battery in. All I had to do was disconnect the old battery and connect the new one. I was in and out of there in 10 minutes.

* I left them a 5 star revue that is now posted on their web site.

Dakota, So you decided against the Super Capacitor?  Was your decision based on the convenient swap-out or some reason against the Super Cap?  I'm also due for new start batteries in the near future.

I have nothing against the Super Cap except the price and the unknown. I was on the road and didn't have time for the unknowns or shipping. I was very happy with the current price and availability of O'Rielly's flooded 8D's. I'm pretty sure I paid much more for the last 8D I bought. Plus, I'm 75 years old and this battery may outlast me.
