A few more pictures.

20250214_160158.jpg They removed the main awning, side mirrors, rad/cac vent, remaining decals ... not much left to remove at this point.

20250214_160147.jpg 20250214_160258.jpg There were two areas that needed a little fiberglass work, lower passenger front (looks like road / curb bounce crack) and one nickle sized spot on the driver sidewall.  They include about a days worth of body repair in the cost of the FBP.

20250214_160621.jpg Removal of roof items has also started.  The satellite dish, old cell phone antenna, CB antenna, the Javelina pie tin compass will also be removed.  All the mounting and through holes will be patched and then the roof painted (with grip additive).

I'm thinking next week they will lay down a primer coat which will seal the porosity etc.

Nope - keeping it and the luggage rack (and the fake scoops and round docking lights) for those classic Foretravel lines.

I have no idea :D ... its really several other updates/projects in addition to full body paint., plus we have not finalized a paint design.  But as a guess 4-5 weeks?  Others who have done this before can give a better answer.
Can't wait to see what your final paint job looks like!  With all the mods and repair y'all are doing, this will be a custom coach!  ^.^d

Richard you are correct about cost when leaving Xtreme a month later.

I was trying to not discourage others by maybe quoting 14 yr old pricing.  Wonder what just FBP cost today.

But nobody gets out without doing some body work / upgrades.

BTW, I thought I read a few years ago that Xtreme, for some reason, was no longer doing Full Body Paint jobs.

Few more progress pictures ...

20250217_161752.jpg Entry door window was removed as well as the leading wind deflector, which will be replaced along with the door gasket.  Drop down step was removed, its getting a rust/structure inspection to see if should be rebuilt (in SS)

20250217_162014.jpg Many old mounting holes patched from the various satellite dishes and antennas that had been installed over the years.

20250217_161825.jpg Another minor body repair, some wrinkles of wisdom were removed.

We see the work order in the front window. Wish we could read it. Are you staying in their home next door? When we stayed there for about 5 weeks, someone lived in the rear. Drilling a few holes in flip-down step so water can drain out with step up or down can add life to step.

It says:  "all that, and a bag of chips"

with guacamole.  Perhaps some queso as well.

We're staying in the apartment until we get our graphic design (which should be very, very soon).  Then we head home for the duration.

The step is being evaluated to see if it needs any attention (it isn't bad, but "while we're in there...").  Steve happened to capture some storage use we "missed" before turning the coach over to the crew.  I hope they didn't look inside the purple bag...  and no, that's not a "stash"

That is beautiful. Is it a design of your own? I was lead to believe Xtreme was not painting entire coaches anymore. I may have to contact them..

Thanks Jack, but I am not needing any help spending money. 😂😂 With my headlight and step conversion, and cabinetry and TV remodeling from Larry, and work at Keith's, I will probably be about 20k down as it is. I'm going to have them remove some of the unused items on my roof though, as Steve and Michelle did. I like that. Maybe a few paint touch ups. And oh , almost forgot about the fogged windows. You may see me on the news, caught robbing banks..😂😂😂

That is beautiful. Is it a design of your own? I was lead to believe Xtreme was not painting entire coaches anymore.

It's a design that evolved out of giving their graphics "consultant" (the guy who did the designs back when they were doing a FBP per month) pictures of coaches we liked.  There was the '03 design, a newer Phenix, and a Prevost in the mix as well as a finding a design we liked in Xtreme's album of prior paint jobs.

Richard would send us an image to get feedback, then take that feedback and make changes.  It all started as white/gold/red and over about 15-20 iterations switched to white/silver/red somewhere around 9 or 10.  Lots of tweaks for stripe width, outline width, where lines started and ended, etc.  It took close to 2 weeks since he doesn't do this full-time.

Xtreme has not done FBP in a couple of years.  As James will explain, as these classics are getting older the cost can exceed the value of the coach, depending on the age, condition, etc.  He won't spend your money if he doesn't think it's wise (a rarity in this business.)  The first response we got when we asked back in August was "no, we don't do those any longer", but they would quote painted "decal" lines on the existing gelcoat (the "level 1" paint job) if we brought the coach over to discuss the other work we wanted done.  After seeing it "up close and personal" they actually offered to quote FBP.

It's not inexpensive by a long shot, but we know the quality and durability of their paint jobs.  Having been here 3 weeks watching the prep, they are meticulous.  Even in a spray-out sample to check colors, the paint is spectacular.  Those reds have a depth to them that is incredible.  With all the work Steve has done to zero-out most of the systems in this coach, it's worth it to us to have this done and we're thrilled that Xtreme agreed to do it.

ETA - Greg commented that because the major colors were so neutral, you could substitute any other color for the reds and it would work.

Thanks for the explanation. Again looks great. Yes James told me last time I saw him, they don't  like just taking peoples money for FBP because as you say, in these older coaches it usually doesn't make financial sense. And it is a lot of work. I have never met more honest business men than in Nacogdoches... you just can't find that now days. That's why I drive at least once a year from Phoenix to have work done... looking forward to the finished product pictures..👍❤️

One of our justifications for it comes from having considered newer coaches as our next coach after we sold the LTV.  Every one we thought about would get compared to a Foretravel and would fall short.  Then all the work Steve did on the wiki really drove things home as to what we really wanted (40' or shorter Foretravel, restored/updated as much as possible).  Our outlay on this coach is still far, far less than anything else we considered that was newer and the "bones" will be better than anything else out there.  Plus we (Steve) can work on virtually any system on this coach.

We'll definitely post those, and Xtreme will be sending us photos of the process as it continues and we'll post them.  We head home in the morning since our work here is done and it's in good hands.

Michelle, I agree. The money spent making these older coaches "ours", and keeping them looking good , is money well spent IMO. I never plan on getting back the money invested in upgrades. It's for our own personal satisfaction. Like you said , with the money spent for the coach and upgrades,  I still have a more solidly built coach than what else would be available in the price range...👍👍❤️

I would even argue that with the expense for upgrades, etc. we will still have a vastly better coach at less than 20-25% the cost of anything new that remotely comes close (and none really even do that).  :)

Our money doesnt hold the value it once did. There is no possible way to even consider replacing our coach with a newer comparable coach. I did a lot of research and I agree with you 100%. These are very robust good old coaches at heart. I genuinely think if you go into this knowing what you want and how much new would cost you'll be 60% or more ahead and have exactly what you want. I would like a 2005 towing capacity but that's the only deficiency.
