Boost switch solenoid operation

My boost switch light stopped working last week and the boost solenoid also seems to not be "clicking".  My question is a sort of chicken or egg in nature, does the power for the solenoid need to go through the switch or does the solenoid light the lamp in the switch.  Is there a fuse involved anywhere in this scenario?

Might pull out your wiring diagram, but on older Foretravels, the boost switch gets power from the ignition solenoid.

On my '91 I can activate my boost solenoid with the ignition off and I can hear it clicking. I hit the boost switch periodically when plugged into shore power to keep the chassis battery topped up. My boost light is out too. Doesn't affect operation. The light doesn't get power from the solenoid, it just goes on indicating the switch has been activated.

The boost switch is connected via diodes to both house and chassis batteries so it will operate if either is dead. I suggest temporarily hot wiring your boost solenoid coil terminal (small lug) to either chassis or house battery (either of the large lugs). If you don't hear a click, the solenoid is defective. If you hear a click, then check wiring to the switch, could just be a crusty terminal lug. Try unplugging and plugging back in at the switch, or loosening and re-tightening the small solenoid terminal.

Also, the solenoid ground might have gotten corroded. Try loosening and re-tightening the solenoid mounting screws.

The bulb in the switch is easily replaceable. Rocker Switch Bulb Replacement
