Gen set box insulation - another project done

I just finished replacing Genset insulation.  While the generator was out I painted the mounting frame and replaced thermostat, hoses, fan belt,
fuel hoses, and serviced while out.  I thought I would post a couple of before and after pics before it gets dirty.

Beautiful job!  Looks better than new - lighter color makes it easier to see what's going on in there.

I did the rear and intake side while the radiator was being repaired at Bern'd. Will finish the other side on the to do list.

Speaking of gen box insulation, one of the things I inherited with my Foretravel was a scrap (about one square foot) of what appears to be insulation. It is very dense and heavy, and seems to consist of several layers of different materials. I have always assumed it was some sort of expensive insulation.

I don't know if it would be appropriate for the box itself, but thought it would be a good addition to the generator door. It would certainly make the door much more solid sounding/feeling.

Would a product like that do much for quieting the sound of the generator? If anyone has tried something like that, I would like to know if you actually felt it improved the sound level. I know some of that stuff is very expensive, but wonder if any of you have actually used it in this application.

This is 1in. 2lb. Insulation which, since mine was in bad condition I can't compare to new factory stuff, but my wife says it is much quieter inside.
Barry,  John had said he replaced part of his while Berndt was repairing radiator.  I pulled the Genset for a couple of reasons. 1 Because I was having the steering gear rebuilt, but mostly because it makes working in that box much easier.  I don't think you can get it scrapped good enough on the sides, or top for good adherence.

Jerry, no I did not have gen repaired (never use it so that would be a waste of money) I thought you said that you had Rad done so that is why you did insulation, my mistake

I don't like how the hot air from the radiator blows right on the steering gear box and the pitman arm, but I've yet to come up with a simple and safe solution.

Also, I reduced the shaking on my 3cylinder by mounting the radiator overflow plastic container to the floor instead of the radiator. And, I increased the no-load RPM to give 62-63hz with no load. This reduced shaking quite a bit. Fully loaded it's about 60hz. With one A/C on it's 61-62. I have a progessive systems protector installed.

The motor will slow down slightly as it loads up due to the built in droop of the governor. "Generator Droop" in google if one is curious.
