I too installed a new unit, did all the work to find my hook ups, and drilled a hole only the size of the exhaust hole on the unit. After very careful measurements and some incredible luck, I was able to slide a plumbing fitting into the unit from the outside. Perfect fit, and sealed around the fitting. We have clean things, done as if by magic. It's so quiet, we keep checking to see if it is running. I must have a very small closet, for we have less than 1/2" on the back and maybe a full 3/4" in front full door with mirror. But I get make up air from under the refr. and from the rear furnace grill, with my solid door closed.
