Splendide 2100

Tried to switch unit on this morning and no power light .
Removed bottom draw in bedroom and power outlet is working , so it looks like I will be dragging it out next week when we get parked up .
Any advice on wrestling the beast out and or internal fuses etc

Mine was a pain to get out. Have to lift over the lower lip of the closet door (I put a moving blanket down to protect the lip). No good place to grab it either. It's easy to break off the tabs that hold on the plastic front plate that holds the controls. Don't ask how I know. Be careful where you grab it.

You can remove the top via 2 screws on the back top corners. Just remove them and push the top back about a half inch and it comes right off. With the top removed you have access to the counter weights. Removing them will save you about 15 to 20 pounds. I did this a couple of times but it wasn't worth the extra effort for me. YMMV...

You can call Slendide service. They are helpful at troubleshooting. I hesitate to mention it, but the door was latched, right? On mine there is a 3/4" square board inside the cabinet frame board that must be removed before you can move the unit. Do you have easy access to the plug and hose connections to remove them before moving the unit? Is there power at the 120v box?

Yes , the door was closed but not locked and yes 120v at outlet

We have the Splendide 2000. There are no lights on it. You set the controls and it starts working, IF the door is fully closed and latched -- and IF the power switch on the door latch it working.

Our unit started getting flaky regarding starting. Sometimes it would start after opening and closing the door. Eventually it quit working altogether. The problem was the switch on the door latch. FOT sells the switches for less than $70. I found that out after I paid ~$170 for one from PPL in Houston. (D'oh!) I tried to fixed the old switch with contact cleaner, then with WD-40. I was not able to dismantle it or get it to work properly.

I was able to diagnose and fix the problem by pulling the machine part way out of its cubby and taking the top of the machine off. I was able to pull if out far enough to turn it so that I could reach all the vital parts. That's WAY easier than taking it all of the way out.

I share my experience in case some of my clues regarding the 2000 might be applicable to the 2100.

Spoken to splendide tech and he thinks it could be connection to circuit board !
So having removed louvre doors , carpet ,retaining lathe and cobbled together a platform to slide the beast onto , tomorrow is the day .
My concern is the vent connection, there is no way to reach it via the removed drawers in bedroom and I can't see how to remove the out side vent

Jimmy,

Not sure of the cabinet configuration you have - are the drawers a cabinet above the Splendide or is there a regular cabinet above it?

If the latter, can you tell if the "floor" of that cabinet can be removed? When we've had to pull our Splendide (has the cabinet above), that's how we accessed the vent hose. And to keep the hose from getting crushed when putting the unit back, we looped a simple belt (from a bathrobe) under the vent hose and held it up during the final push back into place.

Above the splendide recess is an open cabnet with later drawers . The floor of the above cabnet looks solid ( no visible screws etc )
Going to check if it has a false back which may offer access

Well after juggling flashlight and mirror , I can see that the vent is not connected!!
Solid plastic pipe from outside vent connected to fresh air !!!

If the w/d proves to be beyond economic repair and I decide to replace it , which model is a direct replacement and whom has best delivered prices?

2100XC is still the current top combo unit and what Tim said for price - PPL or Camping World. PPL sells another brand (Pinnacle/Majestic) but that brand does not get good reviews at all.

Ok , after much poking around (and half a bottle of wine ) I came to the conclusion that the later drawers and framework will have to come out which will allow the base of the original top cupboard to be removed .
The only consolation in this epic is that I am not paying some tech $100 per hour to figure this out

It's been so long, neither of us can remember. Steve suggests (if yours is like ours; no guarantees

) try instead to remove the pieces that make up wood "box" in the back corner of the upper cabinet - he says that should give you access to everything without trying to remove the cabinet floor, including being able to reach in and address the exhaust duct (again, if it's like ours).

Thank Steve , after removing drawers, runners and framework the base of the cupboard lifted out .
The bad news is that the heating element connections to the circuit board were badly burned and fell apart in my hands .
The good news is that it didn't catch fire and burn the coach down !
Physically wrestling it out of the coach was a challenge, I am hoping that ppl will deliver "inside " the coach.

Wow! Have you considered asking Westland Sales (Splendide support) what might have caused that?

We had a heating problem in our Splendide 2100. Turned out to be burned traces on the the control board that came from the heater relay.
Asked Westland Sales (Splendide support) what caused that, their answer was "RV park pedestal".
Replaced the board, problem fixed.

Splendide tech suggested that a loose or bad connection was the culprit
Cost of a new board $350 , my concern was that an arcing connection could have damaged other electronic components / sensors and a new board may not be the end of my problems

Just called ppl , started by telling me the 2100xc was a stackable unit at $700 , eventually listened and found correct unit, as I stated to ask about delivery agent cut me off mid sentence and started on preamble regards full address and 24h notice etc . I waited until she finished and repeated my question which was does delivery end at front door or inside the Rv . She replied the door !

The new beast arrived yesterday, it's physically smaller and lighter than old unit , got it into place only to realize that the vent outlet does not line up .
So today it's coming back out so that I can cut the solid wall 4" pipe and connect to unit with flexabe duct .
Hopefully this is the last time because my poor back is complaining
