Roland, can you actually see the cable and the break?? or are you just summizing this as it will not come back to idle??
If you have the Bendix and the above is happening take off the CC5 air cylinder and carefully take it apart then lightly grease the inside bits and re assemble. The one I had on 240 was giving that problem and was fixed after doing what I mention.
Try it if cable not actually broken.

John the cable is broken. Haven't taken it off yet. Contacted FOT, they asked for photos and length etc. But I can't seem to get an e.mail through to them. They come back as undeliverable. Even tried to reply to a text they sent me same problem. Something for tomorrow. Got to my brother's place in Sidney and am parked until I can replace the cable.

My experience has been... FOT does not answer emails promptly if ever.

There Email to FOT was to send them requested information, photos of the cable ends length of cable. Problem is their Email filter looks at my IP address and interprets it as spam so the message never goes through. Will try tomorrow using my computer.

Sent Foretravel photos of the cable and ends they will be shipping the throttle cable out tomorrow. Actually i couldn't get through their spam filter so Brent had me send the photos to his personal Email. Can't ask for better support on a twenty four year old coach. Kudos to FOT and Kudos to Brent.

When you get the new cable in hand, be sure to take some photos of it before installation, and post them. Try to show both ends of the cable in detail, and also any labels or identifying numbers on the cable itself. This will be excellent info to have in the Forum archives.

Back when I had my problems with our throttle cable, the FOT parts guys searched high and low, but did not have anything in stock that would work. They found a couple dusty old cables in their parts room, but both the length and the end fittings were incorrect for our coach.

Since our coaches are "litter mates", I will be very interested to hear if this new cable fits and works correctly!

Just received the throttle cable from FOT. The cable is about 15 inches shorter then the cables I took out. From what I remember of my conversation with Brent is that they don't have a throttle cable that long and don't remember putting one that long on a coach. I have a call in to Brent to make sure I have that correct.

If that is the case I plan on repositioning the throttle cylinder. Looks like it involves making one air hose longer and rerouting, or extending, the DC hookup on the cylinder. The current assembly is all mounted on the firewall at the foot of the bed, I plan on moving it, the air cylinder only, to the side. I don't think it should make any operational difference.

The party number on the cable is: Morse D303192-33 8IN 5555. Doing a Google search of that part number brings you to the Wanderlodge thread on throttle cables.

I just received a call back from Brent and has indicated that repositioning the throttle cable was not a problem. Great customer service.

OK, completed the installation today. Easy Peasy mounted the air cylinder to a steel plate and moved it to the street side works like a charm. Although I haven't taken the coach on the road it appears threat I have full throttle if not that be just an adjustment. FOT part number for that cable according to my invoice is 102619. I have attached a photo, and yes I know the insulation needs replacing but with my other issues this is low on the priority list.

He meant to say "curb side". Roland is feeling a little woozy from breathing in all that loose insulation dust while working on his project.

Hello fellow Foretravelers!

I have the same issues with the bendix throttle cable and have found a place near me that will make a new one reusing parts from the original as per this thread from the Wanderlodge owners:

I emailed them pictures and David seems to remember making the same cable in the past. estimated $60 -$80 to make a new one. I'm sending them my old one today, will update when it comes back.

Update:
got the cable back and works great. I did notice we had more power on the Freeway as per a previous post about the old cable not allowing WOT. Sorry I cannot remember where that post was. Also made a new mounting plate from a 3/8" thick fiberglass sheet from McMaster Carr & stainless hardware. (because I have OCD)

Thanks Myron, for the update to your post (above). Glad to hear the cable works correctly. So what was the total turn around time from the day you sent your old cable in to be rebuilt? And, if you don't mind saying, what was the final price for the rebuild?

Total turnaround time was about a week. It cost $68 something plus shipping. Sorry I thought I included that info in the update, but it's been a long week.

If they have all the specs for the cable. I would like to purchase one and replace my old one. I'll keep the original as a spare and sleep better at night while traveling.

Nice idea, but won't work. If you refer to Reply #41 above, you'll see that they use the parts off your old cable to make the new one.
