Residential shower enclosures generally do not require a caulk joint at the bottom of the panels because the tray as previous posts have pointed out have a lip that extends up the wall about 1.5", many installers do caulk the bottom of the wall joint and more often than not the caulk fails and no one notices and no damage is done.
The glass panels sit on a flat surface and depend on a good caulk joint to prevent leakage.
