Have the pad in the house, will warm it up and try once again, think it just had too many touches.

I am assuming you made sure engine was at slow idle when you tried to shift into gear. If idle is too high it will not let the transmission go into gear

Normally if too high an idle speed, the "D" will just flash and indeed it will not go into gear.

We also sent our shift module to TX for a rebuild. Being from Michigan the cooler temps made changing options slow and irritating. Glad we did the rebuild.

After suffering 6 years ago from the dread "Snake Eyes" we sent our touch pad and CPU off to Transmission Instruments for a rebuild.  We have had zero transmission control problems since then.

No start, with Allison "snake eyes" (Problem Solved)

Based on our experience, and other reports on this Forum, there seems to be some correlation between low temperatures and problems with the Allison control system.  After we got our refurbished components back and reinstalled, I decided it could not hurt anything to always keep the CPU and touch panel warm in cold weather.  To this end, during the winter months when the coach is parked, I place a small electric heater on the floor in front of the driver seat.  If cold outdoor temps (below 40 degrees F) are forecast I turn the heater on and let it run continuously, gently blowing warm air in the direction of the CPU.  I strive to just keep the CPU slightly warm to my touch.  It is my thinking that doing so might prevent any moisture condensation in the metal CPU housing, and might possibly help avoid future problems.
