Have you done most of what you wanted to? We have. Zero regretsIn theory if you have done everything you have wanted to in life then you would have nothing left. Life is nothing without goals and wants. When you are done with those ? Then what? Die in your bed is the end. I think doing thinks that are fun and exciting helps keep you alive but doing things on the edge like sky diving and cliff jumping and so on makes for an exciting life but also usually makes an early end to it. So many famous people living life on the edge are not around anymore.. but they had fun I guess and their names live on because of really stupidity at the end of the day.. I have learned that stupid hurts in life .. so I try not to be stupid.. I can get as much fun sittin in my camping chair looking at the sunrise or sunset or spending time with my kids and the grand baby.. if done right can pay dividend that lasts generations .. a one way ticket out of this world? Ok .. if that's what makes your boat float .. head out.. make some room for others. Quote Selected 3 Likes
Re: Silicone Batteries Reply #26 – May 23, 2020, 12:01:02 pm This thread had me scratching my head until I realized the batteries aren't made of silicone rubber. They use silicon (as in semiconductor) parts. Evolutionary, my dear Watson. Quote Selected

Re: Silicone Batteries Reply #29 – May 23, 2020, 02:11:02 pm Ah life. It's great. First you need to be able to breathe. Without that in 5 minutes you're gone. Next you need to be able to hydrate. Without that within a day and a half to 5 days you're gone. Third there's food glorious food. Stop eating in a week to 10 days maybe more maybe less and you're probably gone. Buddha says all life is suffering, and the suffering comes from wants and desires. Well as far as I'm concerned I want to breathe drink and eat. Everything else is kind of secondary.I think there's something built into evolution that tells our bodies as we get older that it's okay to not do crazy things and that enjoying ourselves watching the sunrise or set, Reading a good book, spending time with grandkids, in other activities that don't stress our aging bodies too much. Yeah I jumped out of airplanes when I was younger. No way in heck would you get me to do it now. Never understood bungie jumping thing. Some people in their lives quickly taking needless risks. Others end their lives slowly drinking, smoking, eating poorly, and just not paying attention to their bodies.Far is Elon musk going to Mars, somebody's got to do it and I'm glad it's looking like it may be soon at least before I die. Ever since man came out of the cave, he's always looked at the horizon and wondered what's over there. There's a theory out that ADHD supposedly was instrumental in getting people to spread across the globe. Some people are content to just sit in there cave in the valley where there's plenty of water and meat, and others say no I'm going to go see what's over the horizon, even if it means hardships, or death. As far as the batteries are concerned, how many amp hours total do you have? What are you using to charge them? What size battery cables are they, they look like 2/0?I'm curious how charged were they when you got them from the supplier? How were they shipped? And what does each battery weigh? What is the supplier or manufacturer saying is the expected cycle life? Do you know if the batteries are made up of individual small cells or are they more like the packages that cell phones and electronic equipment use, or is it something else internally?Bob Quote Selected

Re: Silicone Batteries Reply #34 – December 15, 2020, 07:14:15 pm Well as promised I now have some information about the Silicone Batteries. They are 600 amp hours and they seemed to do aswell as the 750 AGM batteries that were in here. They charge up twice as fast as AGMs so I am running the generator a couplehours less than before. I need to raise the voltage of my engine alternator a couple of volts so I need to figger out how to do that.I will do that this weekend when I get home. Quote Selected

Re: Silicone Batteries Reply #38 – February 14, 2021, 10:33:50 pm Well I now have gotten to use the silicone batteries in the cold and I am pleased how they are preforming. Last night it was 0 F and I put the engine heat on a couple of hours before I got up and the batteries were at 12.5 volts. They charge up reallyfast. Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: Silicone Batteries Reply #39 – February 15, 2021, 11:21:58 am You need a very narrow flat blade screw driver to do it and only turn it a tiny bit as voltage changes quite quickly. The blade should be no more than about 3/16" wide, maybe a touch less. The configuration of my alternator is that the regulator is underneath so is a bitch to get at. You may need a small mirror to see the hole etc and on mine the screwdriver has to go in at a few degrees off square to contact that screw. I have even found it easier to remove alternator, adjust it then re install.JohnH Quote Selected
