Klaus, so sorry for your loss. Words just can't express the unconditional love our animals give us. And when it's time to say good bye, it really hurts the heart!

Reply # 11 and # 20 made me smile,  imagining crossing the Rainbow Brige with all our animals we had during our lifetime.

Unless my wife and I die simultaneously, there will be some dogs, horses and cats that will insist on waiting for her.

Or we wait together.

Regards

Klaus
Klaus, I should have done more than just post about Rainbow Bridge. Like you, I have always had dogs. In my case, they were Labradors and I had 2 who were very special. I cried for weeks when I lost each of them but I had to put my last dog, my 12 year old Foretravel buddy Nugget, down because of hip cancer.
He and I were the closest because we were together in the RV for 12 years. I knew the day would come some day and then all of a sudden it was clear. Taking him to the vet was the hardest thing I ever hard to do but I had to do it.
The Rainbow Bridge story usually makes me cry but it gives me something to look forward to. I'm glad it made you smile.

Thank you for sharing your story.

It triggert all sort of memories, we animal loving people are a strange breed, indeed.

Beaux, the puppy (over a year old) just destroyed one of my shoes.
My wife says it is my fault, because I should have putting them away out of his reach.

I will bring this up at the rainbow bridge.

Regards

Klaus
The world is not interested in the storms you encountered, but whether or not you brought in the ship.

From the day we welcome in a puppy, we know that there will be that other day down the road.  I'm sure everyone here can relate to how you are feeling now.  We waited two years before getting another pup after losing Lacy - we should not have waited so long.

I may have previously posted the following that a friend wrote about his dog some time back:
"Our beloved Cassiopeia. She loved the outdoors; here she is at the High Trail at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park in Pinal County, Arizona. On a rainy day in June 2008, she ran ahead to the sunshine of the High Country, leaving behind her collar and a tired and sick body, taking nothing with her but my heart. Ever patient, she is waiting for us by the campfire."
