Good night sweet prince,

and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

I know, Shakespeare wrote this line for Hamlet, Prince of Denmark,

but I am using it as a farewell to Baron, our senior great pyrenee male that we had to put down this morning. It hurts badly to loose him.
He came to us on the farm in April of 2008 as a puppy , and served faithfully protecting us and our lifestock ever since. The Xmas picture shows him in 2011 as the junior male .

The highlight was when he, together with the two female pyrenees, chased a cougar up a tree at our entrance gate.

Now Beaux, our 1 1/2 year old pyrenee puppy, will have to take the mantle of the pack leader.
So far he has distinguished himself by destroying every shoe he got ever hold off, and various garden hoses.

If there is a heaven, there will be animals in it.

Klaus, losing a good dog whose faith in you and unconditional love is very hard. Most of has shared your loss. Michelle's card is perfect. Our Malamute now gone more years than she was with us still brings us joy and a smile when we think of her. Best Dog Ever!

Klaus, sorry for your loosing a loved family member. Over the years we have been down that road many times and shed many tears when our faithful companions crossed over the rainbow bridge.
Happy to know you have a fierce puppy to guard the homestead.

So sorry for your loss. We have had to go through this several times and it's so hard. Ours are never pets but companions and best friends. It's tough even looking at their photos for a very long time.

Very sorry for your loss.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I have lost 2 Gp in past 10 years. Currently haven't gotten a new one. They sure love to roam. Such great gentle giants with humans. Protectors of chick's to elephant.

All the joy they brought you during there life feels like it's ripped from your heart at once with there loss. It's not but feels like it is. Sorry to hear.

Every time I hear of someone saying goodbye to a friend I think of Sampson our faithful labradoodle and feel the pain of loss all over again. I feel your pain, Sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of this, really tugs at the heart strings as we've been through this several times.
I always say "no more", then a furry friend shows up needing a home....

Reply # 11 and # 20 made me smile, imagining crossing the Rainbow Brige with all our animals we had during our lifetime.

Unless my wife and I die simultaneously, there will be some dogs, horses and cats that will insist on waiting for her.

Or we wait together.

I'm so sorry. We were there last fall with our Maggie. I do love the Rainbow Bridge story and I am content to believe it must be true.
