Slide will not retract 2003 U320

I have a 2003 U320.  The blinking light will not go out so I can close slide.  What do I do?

Is the aux compressor running?  It needs to be running to pull vacuum to deflate the bladder.  It should come on shortly after you turn the room key.

If it is, can you tell if the bladder is fully deflated?

If it's not, check the inline fuse going to the compressor.

The blinking light indicates the HWH "brain" has not detected the bladder being safely deflated.

Verify the bladder is collapsing when you turn the key.  You should be able to see daylight.

Try turning the key off and hitting the HWH reset switch.

Try cycling the key a few times.

Have you gone out of level since putting the slide out?

Verify there is air in the tanks.  Try opening and closing the front drain valves.  One should be for the slides.  Air should be in it.

Did a quick forum search for "slide light blinking" - here are a handful of the results that will help with the diagnosis:

Hopefully you get this figured out quickly.  Going forward, a pair of gauges on the slide bladder manifold outputs may give you more info at a quick glance.  Here's how mine are set up so I can see if there is pressure, vacuum or nothing in the slide bladders.

Charlie, I have a 2003 also that the slide sometimes acts as you describe.  I think it may be the control panel needing to be sent to HWH for a look-see but I just haven't gotten around to it.

So far I've been lucky and by hitting the reset, and fiddling with the key switch I have been able to get the amber light to stay steady.

My slide bladder is retracting, and I carry a small jumper wire that can be used to "fool" the PC board and let the light be steady, if need be.  At the moment I can't remember where the jumper goes, but it's no big deal as I recall.  Maybe someone will post up the info for you or you can try using the search function.

I had a similar issue the other day.  I was unable to bring the slide in because the coach had and "excess slope" issue that wasn't evident until I turned the ignition key to ACC.  For some reason the self-leveling stopped and the coach had bled down to slightly out of level.  I manually leveled, hit the HWH reset key and then was able to get the light to blink and bring the slide in.

Also seen it the other way.  I brought the slide came in, but the lock wouldn't engage and the light continued to blink yellow with the red light staying solid.  Turning the ignition key to ACC without starting the engine, then hitting the HWH Reset button allow me to hold the slide button down again, this time engaging the lock pins and getting the red light to go off.

I guess older components get quirky.  These  intermittent are also on my list for next time we are at HWH.  Great Idea keeping a jumper wire T-Man.  I'm still new enough that the HWH intimidates me, but its nice to have another tool in the toolbox.

If anyone decides to send their control unit to HWH don't be in a hurry. I sent mine six weeks ago and was told they couldn't tell me the status and it would probably be at least six more weeks. If possible it's better to drive to Moscow Iowa and have them pull it and service it. Those people get priority over mail ins.

Maybe Moscow, Iowa is nice this time of year.

The 2003 doesn't have locking pins like the 2002 model does, FYI.

HWH seems to be overwhelmed since Covid hit.  When we were there in June they tole us at one point they were 30 people down and still recovering.  We ended up going there after week 12 of what was supposed to be a 4 to 6 week wait for a part.  They were able to rebuild the old one there.

I suspect things aren't much better now.  I called parts the end of July to place and order and was told it might be a while before a callback.  I thought 2 or 3 days... nope, it was 4 weeks later but they did call me back.

I feel for them.  Really good people but being where they are in the middle of nowhere, I suspect they are having a very hard time recruiting and retaining staff.  Hopefully, once Covid settles down, supply chains normalize and this insane new RV demand peters out thing will settle down.  In the meantime trying to keep a few spare parts, fingers crossed, and will make another stop there in the spring.

On our coach the LR slide doesn't have locking pins but the BR slide does. Past issues have always been with the BR slide.

I'm sure they are fine people just wish they had been more up front on their lead time. I would of left the control unit in and drove up there. I'm at their mercy now and cannot get any answers.
Very frustrating
