Gerry,

I called power tech and a tech there says that the gen set puts out 110VAC, and it also has, depending on which unit, a rectifier that puts out only 14.5 VDC at 4 Amps, enough to keep the gen set batteries topped off.

Apparently there are variations how Foretravel wires our genset into out Coaches.
My U320, 2001 model, has no genset DC charging directly from the generator, only charges the house batteries through the AC powered charger in the inverter.  The Genset DC is from the house battery set.
Yes, Power Tech drawing shows the winding for the DC, but by the Foretravel manual, they do not use that winding.

Sometimes if a generator is designed for stand alone field use, such as for running water pumps, air compressors, emergency power supply in remote areas, etc., the unit will need to have a battery installed for starting.  I assume that's the reason for some having a 12VDC option.

Hi Barry, The inverter on my coach also has a 12 vdc battery charging/maintenance system that keeps the entire 12 vdc battery bank (house & engine) charged, when on shore power or generator power. there are also setting for charging different types of 12 vdc batteries, AGM - Lead Acid, Gel Cell...... my assumption is that the 12 vdc for the gen-set comes from house battery post....
