Re: Vehicle History Report

When we were searching for our coach, I tried a CarFax subscription. I found the search results were somewhat random - that is, pretty good in some cases and pretty worthless in others. Don't expect it to work like it does with cars. You may get some useful information about how many owners and where the unit was registered, but there might also be big gaps in the history. Unlike cars, motorhomes don't necessarily reside in the same place they are registered. A coach registered in South Dakota may have spent its whole lifetime parked 10 feet from the ocean on a beach in Florida. Also, it seems the "rules" that require shops to report damage repair and reconstruction are rather loosely enforced in the case of RVs. Don't assume a RV has a clean "record" just because nothing scary shows up on Carfax. It is ALWAY best to find a RV with a complete ownership/service history and paper receipts for major maintenance work.
