Throttle Foot control
Our throttle went dead on a hill here near Huntington WV. We checked grounds etc and the followed old king manual and Cruise Kings current site. The resistance on the potentiometer was almost nonexistent. The mechanic is primarily a big rig guy and feels it needs to be replaced. I can not read the part number on the side as it is rubbed out in several places. What shows is 11?454. The mystery number is either a 2,3,8,9 or 0. The bottom numbers last two are 13 First number is probably an 8 second an 8 or a 3.
The assembly in its entirety has a sticker on the metal bracket of WM 526-359595 and underneath 226 L040
I have read the Beamalarm on the King control as well as the excellent site by cruise King. All the springs etc are in place.
Symptoms: Exiting Flying J started up a hill immediately and towards the crest the foot peddle stopped accelerating the engine. Pulled over tried starting and stopping engine. No go as engine fired went to idle but no throttle function. Dropped towed got kids out of harms way as very narrow shoulder. Tried fourth time throttle returned and ran another 15 miles to campground. In campground, I tried hand throttle with no problem. No problem earlier with cruise control. In fact cruise control was doing better job of maintaining speed than I could do manually. Each time tested in site no problem. Many times I have had to use what I would describe as a double clutch before I could pick up acceleration.
Thought about the get home string as a backup since it is itermitant, and were it 95I would, but 64 from here to VA just to many ugly possibilities.
Looking for part number and if the black box can be replaced or is it the whole enchilada.
