Several owners have posted issues with older cutoff sensors here.

Low oil pressure and high temp cutoffs are there somewhere.

I had the mains need resetting several times to restore power yet the breaker was not visibly open.  Weird

So I replaced the seemingly perfect gen main breakers and the pop off breaker for the fan and all the hoses and all safety sensors and the glow plugs and had the injectors and valves adjusted.

Never had power interruptions since BTW.

Gen hour meter was disconnected when we started our stewardship of this coach so starting over seemed less problematic long run.

Our Isuzu 3ld? Had gasket leaks from several areas and required semi major disassembly to replace them two separate times.

Also replaced the fuel pump to see if the oil leaking was from there.

Slowly lessened the leaks to a small amount and I think I finally found hopefully the last one the other day.

Dip stick is slightly loose into the block.  So I ordered a new one.

Previously our coach prior to the owners before us was a pheonix, Az. Desert coach.

Who knows how many hours the gen really had.    May be many thousands as the snakes in all the windows are major.

Went with the same proactive servicing on the entire coach.

No trust.  Rebuild everything.  Upgrade everything.  Restrung all the day/night shades.

Not for the faint of wallet but as this coach is a keeper for us we intend to drive the money invested out of the coach.

$20 CB's?  None on beauty.  Just me.  Too many years driving a lot of new to me used rv's.

Even paranoids have enemies.  Haha.

Hope my ramblings help anyone

Mine has a float switch that acts as a coolant level sensor. My Powertech expert didn't know about it until I found it in the FT book of schematics. Once replaced, I could make it out of the driveway and around the corner without the genset quitting.

Before finding that switch, he had already replaced all the others.

Now that makes sense to me... I was coming back from San Diego and we stopped to eat. When I left to enter the street the exit had a very steep grade .. as I sat waiting for traffic to open up the genny dies and I had to hard reset..I have had intermittent problems since.. I thought the fuel had sloshed to 1 side and caused air to get in the line but if I have one of these it might be the root. Ty

Tom,  where is your 10kw coolant level float switch located?

It is a conventional float in the coolant tank.

The subject I chose is misleading. I am not having any engine problem with the Kabota 4cyl. What happens is A/C power is  suddenly dropped. Sometimes after more than a hour and sometimes in minutes. After restarting it intermittently starts supplying power again. There is no common time that it takes for it to start working again. Once just restarting right after interruption it worked and other times over an hour. Maybe I am the first to have this problem. I will get the answer when I get home and post it for anyone else that might have it happen to them.

You need to check output prior to circuit breakers.  If the generator has no voltage there, it is likely the exciter circuit.  There is a troubleshooting chart in power tech manual (online). Intermittent may indicate a loose connection in this area.

Last year, prior to storage I took U-320 in for miscellaneous work.  One item was to service Powertech 10K genset.  When I parked in storage, decided I would crank genset to check out work.  Would not crank.  Mechanic had not reset switches.  After I corrected, I saw no issue with power gen.  A few weeks ago, immediately before first trip, decided to start/check genset before leaving.  No AC shore power on panel.  Reset breakers, etc., no resolution so then took to mechanic.  Three hours later when I picked up, he said that they had found a loose wire connection.  Only thing wrong and it worked well on the trip, so i would check wiring connections before replacing parts.  But I have another issue I could use some help on about auto-start and will open another topic.  Good luck with this one.

Updating the generator issue. Murphy's law says "what ever can fail will fail and at the most inconvenient time and place" It isn't mentioned that at the most convenient time and place it won't fail. The generator has ran for over 20 hrs. since returning from the Sierra's where it would intermittently lose electricity. It has not lost electricity at home. Talked to Jeff at Powertech and in order to trouble shoot the issue it has to quit making electricity. I have tried high load, medium load and no load, it just keeps working. Instead of wearing the generator out trying to get it to fail, I will take a small generator to the Sierra's in October and dare it to fail there. The information from Jeff is when it is not making electricity to use a volt meter at the top of the 45 or 50 amp circuit breakers and check for at least 4 volts. If 4 volts or more probably voltage regulator. No voltage bad generator.
