Re: Starter Issues Reply #25 – May 07, 2019, 07:49:50 am John, the Youtube you posted was very informative. I also had never heard the terms "clocking the starter." That lesson will certainly save me lots of time in the future if I have to make a starter change. Thank you Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: Starter Issues Reply #26 – May 15, 2019, 06:32:17 pm Well we waited for over a week for it stop raining and the ground to dry up some and today we were able to install the Delco Remy 39MT Gear Reduction Starter. The removal of the old starter was not bad since I had the coach raised up. With the help of my wife from above keeping tension on a rope and a stud, I was able to remove and slide the starter off of the stud and lower it down safely using two hands. That old starter was very heavy! The new starter was a breeze and I was able to lift it into position and bolt it in without any help. There was more room to install all the bolts. The starter didn't need to be clocked it was set right straight out of the box. The wiring connection were pretty straight forward. Started the coach using no boost and she spun and started fast. Very happy with the starter and installation. Would recommend this starter as a replacement. Thank you all for your support and recommendations. John M. Quote Selected 9 Likes
Re: Starter Issues Reply #27 – May 15, 2019, 08:04:28 pm Now, what to do with the old starter. I hate pitching it in the garbage when it could probably be rebuilt.John M Quote Selected
Re: Starter Issues Reply #28 – May 15, 2019, 08:20:04 pm John,It could definitely be rebuilt, if the stator and rotor is good the rest of the parts are not expensive. I would fix it for you for you if you were close by so you could have a back up. Mike Quote Selected 1 Likes

Re: Starter Issues Reply #33 – May 16, 2019, 10:16:25 am Keith,I shopped around and found a lot of aftermarket and refurbished starters at a lower price on the Internet. I didn't order from an online store because I'm at a campground and they don't allow shipments into the park. We have over 1700 sites here and the park is secured. It would be a mad house if deliveries were allowed. The starter that was in my coach was a Delco Remy P/N 195830 made for Cummins. The new Delco Remy 39MT P/N 8200308 went into the coach M11 very easy and works great. I bought my starter at a local truck parts store "Action Truck Parts" here in Illinois and paid $319. When looking for the starter you need to look for a Genuine Delco Remy 39MT. There a lot of aftermarket and refurbished ones out there. The Genuine starters range from $275 to almost $400 out there. Then you hope it's free shipping.John M.John M. Quote Selected

Shipped within 2 hours using FedEx.His phone number is (763) 226-3205. He said he has more.Photos of what he shipped. Quote Selected 2 Likes

I had my wife help me with the weight using a guide rope from above. The new one went in easy with room to spare and I was able to get it up and bolted without any help. It was a breeze. Just make sure you raise the coach high enough to pull the breaker bar.John M. Quote Selected 2 Likes
