Schlage entry lock broken

Leaving tomorrow on a trip, the Schlage deadbolt entry lock broke.  The tailpiece broke off of the cylinder.  New deadbolt locks are much larger diameter and don't want to drill a larger hole.  Also the tailpiece is completely different and not sure it will work.
Has anyone found someplace online (preferably Amazon) to replace the Schlage deadbolt or the cylinder?
I'll try to find a locksmith, it's working now after snapping the tailpiece back into the cylinder but not sure if I should trust it.

When I re-keyed Schlage locks at Lowes, we used to keep spare parts in the keying kit.
Perhaps a drive down to ask (in person works better) and a lot of "please" may help you score a replacement.
Bring the old one with you.

Mul-t-lock tailpiece for Schlage single deadbolt cylinder - - Amazon.com

Did you try contacting Schlage?  Also you could look for a different brand of deadbolt that has the diameter you want.

Make sure the dead bolt isn't binding on the edge of its door cutout.  It needs to be centered in the opening so the binding won't put undue strain on the actuator and tailpiece and break them.  I think that's what caused my OEM actuator to break a cog.  There are two hex head bolts inside the door underneath the deadbolt that secure the lock assembly to the door and if they're loose then the deadbolt can be off- center,

With bolts loose I centered the deadbolt, then tightened the bolts, using a bit of blue Loctite on the threads.

Got it fixed after a 70 mile roundtrip to the closest locksmith.  Took about an hour digging around their parts bin, ended up robbing a part off a new lock.  New tailpiece and retaining cap $5.00
Installed in the door and working.  The old tailpiece was worn and would not stay on the cap, the new one snapped onto the cap.
Just have to figure out the power lock actuator when I get a chance.  Anyone have a part #?

Had that happen with me locked in and wife locked out on the way to driving school at Nac. The kind guys in service was able to find the piece I needed in their extensive part department... I believe it was from a old door.

Trying to recall how I did it.  I believe I replaced the cylinder and refit the slender turning piece through the old opening.  In short I took apart a new lock which has standard parts and placed them in the old pieces which fit.  I went to a locksmith etc and could not find either replacement parts or a lock.  Not the cheapest but it worked for me.  About $26 at HD or Lowe's a couple of years ago.
