Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #51 – July 12, 2020, 07:30:38 pm It doesn't look to me like the washer is crushed, but Bruce Bean's eyes are younger than mine.If it were me I would remove the new drain plug and compare it to the old one, reinsert the old one then reinsert the new one and make sure thread length and everything else is kosher. Worst case you put the old one back in, fill the pan with oil and be on your way. Quote Selected

Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #55 – July 12, 2020, 07:57:03 pm Wherever you get the filter you might take the two plugs and have them both checked with a micrometer for uniformity. You may have gotten the wrong plug or one from China. Quote Selected 1 Likes

Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #58 – July 13, 2020, 10:03:06 am Many of the filter makers have the thread size on their sites, takes a little research,if metric it would be something like M 100,Bob,when you get the correct filter, get a spare. Quote Selected 1 Likes
Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #59 – July 13, 2020, 11:08:51 am Thanks. Where is one on Amazon a Baldwin. Since you're so expensive that way oh, to get it here by Wednesday, I'm just ordering one for now. When I get to my next place that I can stay for a couple weeks or more I would or another. If worst came to worst I would just reuse the old filter like Chuck said. In fact I did I put it back on keep things clean down there. I thought about putting a hole in the bottom of the filter like people suggest to drain the filteroh, and I can tell you right now that I'm really glad that I didn't. I had some doubts about The Donaldson since I had never used it before and I'm glad I followed my doubt. Quote Selected

Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #61 – July 13, 2020, 05:57:33 pm Went to a local NAPA store for some RTU adhesive. Those roads in Colorado knocked my convex mirror off on the driver's side. Asked if he had a Baldwin filter for my coach. He did! NAPA gold one. Almost bought it till he told me the price. Almost 3X the cost of the Amazon price. $78 bucks. Would have still purchased it except their filters are made by wix and I've read they are not the best. So I passed. But got another gallon of Shell Rotella stn oil and the silicone adhesive. Mirror is fixed. Quote Selected

Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #64 – July 15, 2020, 03:33:32 pm I've used Napa Gold filters made by Wix for years without any problems that I can remember. Must be OK based on the number of Napa stores in this country. Maybe the "Napa Gold" filters are made to a higher spec than the "Wix" labeled ones? Don't know....... Quote Selected 1 Likes

Re: Oil change at loves truck stop Reply #66 – July 15, 2020, 07:03:46 pm OK filter and oil all done. Use another Baldwin and I'm happy with that.was able to recycle the used oil with a local trucking company next to the Napa that I went to. Also change the radiator cap on my Isuzu engine diesel generator and the tubing coming off of that to the recovery container, new clamps.I read at some point in the past about a filter comparison and the Napa filters made by wix did not come out high on the list of being the best filters. I don't have that link anymore that I know well so if you are happy with them then that's good for you. But based on what I read in the past I'm a bit leery of them. I may not have good information that's okay.if I get into a place with better internet that doesn't take me 10 minutes to load a small page maybe I'll be able to look for it. If you have better internet than look for a comparison of diesel engine filters and that should start you off on the right track.I would have liked to have use the Donaldson blue but it seems like I ordered the wrong part number. But the Baldwins are good.I lost one of my windshield wipers on the road and replaced it with the new one today. Also repair my Wi-Fi extender antenna with some silicone adhesive. The outer covering I was coming off.All in all a very productive day. Quote Selected
