Oil change at loves truck stop

I'm in rapid City South Dakota right now getting ready to go east towards Pennsylvania and want to get an oil change. was thinking about going to a Love's truck stop and I was wondering if anybody had ever gone there for an oil change? If so how was the value for what you paid for? Also that was the quality? Or does anybody have any other opinions on a good place while on the road to stop and get oil change and things like that.
Thanks
Bob

Loves bought speedco. Truck lube is what they do. Quick in and out. They do a good job.  Not the cheapest but in and out reasonably quick.
I use them from time to time on my semi truck.
Two stroke Detroit owners they will Not carry the straight 40wt oil you need..

Near most medium to large population centers, you will find mobile oil change services that will come to your parking location and change the oil/filter.  I have witnessed these operations several times when camping, but never used them.  I change my own oil and filter at home.

The nice thing about a mobile oil change service is you can stand there and watch what they are doing.  Good peace of mind.

Cost, speed, and quality of a mobile service call will probably vary greatly.  Might ask around where you are staying to see if any recommendations are offered.  Changing oil and filter is not rocket science, but like any job, it IS always possible to screw it up.

No speedco near me. Changing oil and filter is not hard for me but getting rid of the oil can be. I'm just looking for a quick oil change.

If you take your coach to Loves or any other shop for the lube service, be sure you tell them DO NOT GREASE THE BRAKES!!!!!  Many sad stories of oil change techs using incorrect grease on brake calipers, resulting in having to completely purge the calipers.  Added time + expense.

Actually, on the brakes (not greasing them) better to remove the zirks and install dead plugs (any auto parts house) if you are having others do LOF's.

I also change my oil and filter.  I but the oil at Sam's and the filter at NAPA.  Put the old oil back in the containers that the new oil came in.  Take the containers to Walmart, they take the oil and get rid of the containers too.  Good to recycle.

When I got to Love's at rapid City they could do it but it would be several hours wait. I was anxious to get on the road so I passed. There's a Love's in Sioux City and right now I'm at a state park outside of it. I'll check with them tomorrow and see if they can fit me in.

So now I'm at Love's in Sioux falls South Dakota. The guys on lunch break but won't even bother to come out and talk to me just says no we don't work on RVs. And a discussion. I called a couple other places in town and nobody can see me today so I guess it's time to move on to another place. I knew I should have did it myself before I left town. I may just stop at Walmart and buy my own damn oil, since I have the filter.

Yeah, but his 320 holds what...10 gallons?  That's a lotta oil to juggle around.  Would think, though, that changes would be longer interval with such large capacity.  My 8.3 holds five.

O'Reilly and Autozone both take used oil around here.  I used a large storage container, lined it with a trash bag (I think I got that from Brett) and drained the oil.  Bought the oil in the 2.5 gallon containers (takes 11 gallons) and put the used back in them.  That was the most time consuming as I used a cut-off old milk jug and funnel.  A drill operated pump would be faster.  When most of the oil is removed from the trash bag, dispose of the trash bag and filter.
Before I started I put down one of the cheap vinyl table cloths from the dollar store to catch spills.  If I do not spill much, I wipe it off with paper towels, otherwise, whole thing gets trashed.

Getting rid of the used oil is easy, but have not found a good way to dispose of coolant.

Yup, I use a Rubbermade tub and line it with two black trash bags (one inside the other for double protection).

After draining, use a coffee can and funnel to put old oil back into the new gallon jugs and take to WM or other place for recycle.

Always works and you know it is done correctly-- not wrong oil, not wrong quantity, not loose oil filter.................

Speaking about oil change. Last time I got oil changed at Cummins. There was something special about the oil dip stick marking. I am going to change it myself this time. I had done it when I purchased it so this will be my second round doing it. I just don't remember something about the oil dip stick ... full is not full but too full?

From previous posts I read on the forum, the dipstick markings are not necessarily accurate.  If I recall correctly, recommendation it to fill based on volumes stated in the manual and make your own "full level" mark on the dipstick using a file.

Best option to properly find out the correct level on the dip stick is to call Cummins with your exact engine number.  They will/can tell you the amount of oil your engine requires due to the oil pan that your engine has. Not all coaches have the same oil pan for the same engine. Once you have this info drain oil and filter then fill with the recommended amount of oil.  Now check the dip stick and mark the dipstick with a file or center punch if different than the factory mark on the dip stick.

How many miles on your oil now? Should be ok for at least 10,000 miles. Most of us change oil more frequently then we really need to.🤔

Detroit 6V-92TA takes 5.5 gallons Delo 100 #40. I buy 7 gallons to carry a little extra. Cost for 7 is right at $96 plus filter. Detroit used to advertise 100K between changes long ago but agree with Gerry, we usually change more often than we need to.

An oil analysis can show if you need to change the oil

Yes they can. I like the idea of sending in an oil sample every 50K or so to check for metals, coolant, etc. Blackstone does it for about $30.Tests & Price List | Blackstone Laboratories(S(2vjbjb55fkdf5a55mccdrk2o))%2f

But what do you do if they tell you your engine is on it's last legs and needs a $30K overhaul? Spray car wash for the engine, Krylon/STP overhaul and then Craigslist ad? 8)

The sample isn't much good if you don't have a previous sample to gauge how much metal has developed and the time lapse since the last oil change.

Going to do it myself when I get to Philly.
Anybody know what the recommended oil change times for a 10,000 kW power tech generator with the Isuzu engine is?
