Glenn, I thought this got posted yesterday.

There is no temperature shunt. It is a sensor.  The Victron temperature sensor is also the power supply to the battery shunt. It gets connected to,the Plus post on the battery.  It is not the same as the Magnum temp sensor..

Most other temperature sensors connect to the negative post.

Get the Victron BMV 712.  There is one small data cable that goes from the BMV to the battery shunt.  Install the battery shunt near your batteries.  If your negative cables on the batteries are daisy chained then the last minus cable goes to the battery side of the BMV shunt.  From the other end of the shunt, the load end, a big battery cable goes through the wall toma common post behing the white panel.  Use the existing cable, take it off the battery and connect it to the load side of the BMV shunt.  Get a new short cable that goes from the battery to the battery side of the BMV shunt.

I so appreciate, the accurate, easy to use Victron Energy BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor.  I did string the meter display panel to the inside of my rv, doing it over I'd mount it next to the batteries or solar controllers, as all settings for me are more easily monitored and changed by the Android app on my phone.  This apps ease of use is well covered in the following short video.

It's quality and ease of use, made the choice of Victron solar controllers, an easy choice.
