The inverter charger needs a LOT larger-gauge connection to the house battery bank and closer to battery is better, so, no the original location will not work, as it is a long way from the batteries.
Best in bay just forward of the battery compartment.
You can disconnect the current 120 VAC wire from main breaker box that goes to the converter (I would just tape off the wire and leave it) and run a new wire from that breaker to the new location. Make sure breaker and wire are sized as recommended for your inverter charger.
Best for inverter 120 VAC OUT is to a SUB-PANEL. Move any circuits you want to be able to power from the inverter to the sub-panel. If just one or two, depending on the inverter/charger you choose, there may be breakers and connections for some "inverter OUT" connections on the inverter/charger itself.
