Adding Inverter/Charger to 95 U240

My 95 U240 came with only a battery charger located in second bay from front on drivers side, onan propane generator is in first bay.  What all has to change to convert to a Freedom XC inverter/charger?  Where do I connect the AC output voltage to my RV?  If possible I would like to mount the new unit in place of OEM charger.

There are a number of approaches but best to have some assistance with a complete design. typical would be to feed the inverter form the existing panel box and then having the inverter/transfer switch feed a sub panel and then moving the desired circuits/loads to that panel. The plan has to include adequate batteries and wiring and selecting of circuits. If this is to be supported by the engine alternator that also has to be considered.  A huge part of this is whether or not you want to support a residential refrigerator. Done right this is a wonderful upgrade. P-mail me if you would like some dedicated help with this.

The inverter charger needs a LOT larger-gauge connection to the house battery bank and closer to battery is better, so, no the original location will not work, as it is a long way from the batteries.

Best in bay just forward of the battery compartment.

You can disconnect the current 120 VAC wire from main breaker box that goes to the converter (I would just tape off the wire and leave it) and run a new wire from that breaker to the new location.  Make sure breaker and wire are sized as recommended for your inverter charger.

Best for inverter 120 VAC OUT is to a SUB-PANEL. Move any circuits you want to be able to power from the inverter to the sub-panel.  If just one or two, depending on the inverter/charger you choose, there may be breakers and connections for some "inverter OUT" connections on the inverter/charger itself.
