Engine Air Filter Replacement

I have a 2002 U270 with a 400 Cummins ISL motor.
Is the FleetGuard AF1838M the only Engine Air Filter that will fit and work properly on this coach?

There are over 80 replacement filters listed for the AF1838M, but the question is which ones have been used successfully?

I think most use one of Donaldson / Baldwin / Fleetguard.  The Donaldson P/N should be  P148043, not sure on the Baldwin.

Wix is another high quality filter (they make the NAPA Gold filters).

I recently replaced mine with the Donaldson 148043. I ordered it on Amazon and it came on time and packaged well to prevent damage. It was a third party seller (Intella Parts) but was drop shipped from Donaldson. The fit is perfect.

Has anyone recently located one of the Donaldson blue filters for our rigs?  IIRC, superior filtration and water resistance, that was what i used on last filter.

I ordered this one last year and when it arrived it was blue and had mesh inside and out. No problems so far.

Guess I am a little gun shy from using "made to replace" parts.  Especially true of any part where a failure could result in a $20,000+ repair bill.

Quality may be good OR......

At least to me "Killer Filter" is not a brand I am familiar with.

Purchased a Donaldson filter off of Amazon last month
  "Killer filter" is mentioned...

I called seller/shipper, they assured me it was a Donaldson filter.

Side by side comparison Wix vs Donaldson, I would choose Donaldson.

Just to add to the confusion, mostly mine.

Last Donaldson Filter I purchased (and it was drop shipped from Donaldson) was a P148043 ,it had a blue tint, sold as "Cellulose, Treated".  Pics attached.

I believe (but do not hold me to this) a standard filter is a P150694 which is "Cellulose" and has a 10.5mm different Inner Diameter.  This is referenced by Donaldson as the standard filter when you view the P148043 filter.

I have over the years used WIX,  and Baldwin. The Donaldson P14803 fits better than they do. You also have to pay attention to air Flo direction on these filters. Some are designed for inside out Flo and some are outside Flo. Just to make things easy why not just use the filter that Donaldson says fits their housing.

The one you ordered from Amazon is the same one I ordered this past spring. What I got was a Donaldson P148043, drop shipped from Donaldson. It has mesh inside and out, but it is not blue.

I ordered one a few weeks back from the source "Killer Filter" on amazon  $126, what arrived was an OE Donaldson blue.

Not trying to drift the direction of this post but I thought Donaldson discontinued the Blue filter? I also can't recommend enough using a pre cleaner partial separator ahead of the filter housing installed in the vertical inlet. Filters stay clean. Dont forget to change your vacuator valve too.
