stain to match walnut finish

I recently changed out a roof air.  The inside unit has a smaller footprint.  There is now about a foot or so of exposed roof where the vinyl trim piece had been trimmed to accomodate the old unit.  I am thinking about a solid wood trim piece stained to match the walnut woodwork.  I am going to put LED under cabinet type lights throughout to brighten up the interior.  Has anyone done any woodwork and figured out which stain comes closest to matching the walnut finish?

Steve's done some work in our coach, which is walnut.  He just used black walnut as the wood species and finished it with the sanding sealer that the factory uses.  Perfect match.

It seems that the factory uses dark walnut from the west coast.  I used walnut from the east coast and it is a bit lighter.  But, the walnut in our coach has lightened over the ages and it seems to match.  Look at the rest of your coach and you should see some light patches in the wood.
So it really doesn't seem to matter which except to your eye.
