RO Water System

I installed a whole house RO system in our 1997 U295 36'. The system fit on a wall in the reel bay after I took out a drawer and shelf. Pictures are here: http://foreforums.com/index.php?action=media;sa=album;in=179

I installed the system just before we took our first "big" trip in the "new to us" 1997 U295. The system worked well, as did all of the systems in the coach.

J. D.,
Does your RO system remove the chlorine in city water systems?  You need the chlorine in the fresh water reservoir tank if the tank water is not used up rather quickly.  You are safe for drinking & cooking if you also use the galley spigot with the Everpure filter.

Yes, the RO system removes any chlorine with the third stage of the filters in canisters before the RO system. Chlorine will foul the RO membrane.

At home we are on well water and there is not any chlorine in our water supply. I sanitized the fresh water system in the coach with chlorine bleach before I installed the RO system. In order to sanitize the coach's plumbing with chlorine I would need to bypass the RO system. That is easy to do by simply supplying chlorinated water via the normal shore water inlet. Indeed sanitizing the fresh water system regularly is a prudent measure. Thanks for the reminder.

J. D.,
You're good to go!  We are occasional users of out Foretravel, so I'm stuck with dumping the system each time we go out.  Then, each time we use the coach...guess what?  I need to sanitize all over again.  We use the the Everpure system for drinking and cooking.  Even then, we use bottled water for drinking mostly.  In the winter, then winterize, etc.  I've added a few easy mods to the intake at the water pump to make injecting the anti-freeze faster.

BTW, great install job.
