No voltage leg 1

When on generator power only- I noticed the voltage displayed on the inside panel showed 0 for leg 1 and 124 v for leg 2.  I reset the 45 amp circuit breakers on the generator but still get the same message of 0 voltage line 1. Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting the problem?

Thanks

I you are comfortable with live electricity.

Measure voltage at the terminals inside your transfer switch.  This would tell you generator leg is getting to transfer switch.

Measure voltage the terminals on the back of your 45 amp breakers on the generator to be sure your breaker is not breaked.

Make sure both breakers are ON , on the genset .  On my 10kw PowerTech,  there are two breakers for 120 VAC

Sometimes it is difficult to tell that a breaker is tripped.  BETTER is, with the generator off to turn both breakers OFF and then back ON.

The voltage on leg 1 was 0 entering the transfer switch where leg 2 had 124 volts.  I reset both 45 amp breakers on the generator but still no voltage on leg 1.  How do I get to the breakers to measure voltage after the breakers to see if one is bad?  On my 10 kw powertech- there is a panel that is latched on the right side which houses the oil filter and oil intake and a panel to the left that has several screws. Is this panel the best way to gain access to the breakers?

My feeling would be for you to take your coach to a generator shop and have them check out the generator.
Also are you checking voltage on the generator side of the transfer switch or on the load side ?  Could be a bad contactor, just an idea
Good luck

Kim,

Just to confirm - if you plug into shore power, you do see voltage on both legs, correct?

The reason I ask is that we had a breaker (coach, not genset) that was going bad mechanically and would flip off while driving; it happened to be the breaker used for one side of the power line monitor.

When on shorepower both legs read 124 v on the panel
- but on gen leg 1 is still 0-1 v
