KOOL-O-MATIC FAN TROUBLESHOOTING..........

The Kool-O-Matic vent fan in my motorhome became inoperative on the LOW setting some time ago.
I discovered a work around to be able to use it other than at FULL SPEED....
There were a couple of other spade connectors inside the housing area that appeared to be connected to an additional THREE POSITION switch.
As I recall, I tried this additional switch in a couple of different positions and the fan decided to run in a mode slower than full speed.
Mind you this was at a speed about double the previous low speed.
I am wondering if anyone else has played with this fan assembly and determined if there may be failed heat dissapating resistors in series with that three position switch.
I figured I would ask here first before delving into the innards of the thing.
Anyone have a hand drawn schematic of the system?  Ideas?

Jon,
Did you do a google search for kool-o-matic?  Seems as though the company quit making these fans in 2006, but they still have a website with some phone numbers to call for spare parts if available.  I found this http://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6770  which might help.  I haven't had any problem with mine, haven't looked at it, so have no idea if it has multiple windings or uses resistors for speed control.  Most better quality fan motors have multiple windings for different speeds.  A defective switch can cause a problem like yours as well as an open winding.  Some threads talk about 3 speeds, but mine only has 2.

Ordered a grill and cover not to long ago.  Talked to the retired owner of the company.  He has the web page.  He said he is about ready to shut it down.  Don't know how much he has left.  Would hope that someone who has the space and ability would maybe buy what he has left.

And Jon, he is not far from you!  May be worth talking to him.

When we heard he was going out of business, we ordered spare Kool-O-Matic parts, since we like our Kool-O-Matic fan so much.  Fan motor is unique and hard to find on after-market, maybe same for speed resistor network. New style grill and cover is improved version and works better than original.
