Electric Locks Compartment Doors

Hello All;

I recently had a compartment door lock fail.
Took it apart and found the gears were broken.
I know there has been discussion here previously regarding replacement of these locks.
Having tinkered with custom hot rods ,I remembered Crutchfield, a supplier of security devices and door locks.
I got one for approx $20 ,,,,#514DS24  www.crutchfield.com
Splice a couple of wires, attach rod with coupling ,couple of screws, double face tape,,,done.
20 minutes with instructions included.

The MES locks work great on the basement compartments, but don't work on the front door (not enough room, at least on our 99 U270).  When my front door actuator failed a while ago, I had already gotten two of the MES actuators, and I swapped one of the original basement actuators for an MES lock and put that original one in the front door
