Dashboard Backlight Noise

Our coach is a 1997 U295. The back lights for the dashboard generate a high pitched whine. The right hand panel is noisy enough to be annoying. The other two panels make noise, but not as much. Is there a way to suppress the noise and maintain full brightness of the dashboard back lights?

The noise decreases as the dimmer decreases the brightness of the back lights. I expect we may be able to reach a reasonable compromise between brightness and noise, but would prefer to suppress the noise at all settings of the dimmer.

A note by Barry Brideau at http://beamalarm.com/Documents/dash_inverter_diagram.htm suggests that setting the dimmer too low might damage the system. This diagram also shows a line to the rocker switch panel on a diagram dated March 3, 1998. That might be a clue regarding questions about the lighting of that panel in a recent thread on the forum.

There is some sort of transformer back there that is making the noise.  I know on my 99 I had that and replaced it and the whine was much less. Just the normal operating noise.
