collapsing monitor

The 7" retractable color monitor for my rear view camera and tank monitor has started retracting after almost every pothole in the road. This can be very annoying and dangerous even when manipulating the coach in congested urban areas where the pavement has suffered the effects of our present economy.
The mount for this device, if I recall correctly, consists of a clamp on each side similar to an audio receiver plus a flexible metal strap securing the rearmost portion of the case to a structural frame under the dash. How do I adjust this to keep it from retracting with every little jolt?
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

I had this same problem early on.
It would even go down when I put the turn signal on.
It turned out to be a poor ground connection.

Barry. Just yesterday returned to the "road" after exploring the collapsing monitor from behind. I found the flexible metal strap VERY loose at it's attachment to the unit. I tightened it, no lock-tight handy. Yesterday driving from Durham to Charlotte, nary a single retraction.

Hard to say.
But if the unit was loose and flexing due to not being secured tight, it could have jarred something inside the unit.
Might even be something on the printed circuit board that might have created a bad connection if it flexed enough.
I think you are closer to finding the problem if it happens again.
I would be looking inside the unit if all your electrical connections on the unit were tight.
I wish I could take "intermittent" out of my vocabulary.  :'(

Agree with Barry.

The loose strap could have allowed something to loosen.

The support strap is not the 12 VDC ground-- at least on any of the units I have worked on.  But, trace the ground wire from the Javailna.  That will tell you how your is wired.
