I took the rig back to CAT to have the leaking fan pump fittings repaired on warranty.  I was on the road in June when my fan pump went.  Anyway, they recommended replacing several seals particularly the PS pump.  They also told me I should consider replacing the rear engine seal but the transmission has to be dropped and it isn't leaking bad enough to justify the expense at this time so they advised I watch it.  I just drove 5000 miles and never noticed the oil on the dipstick move at all so I'm wondering how bad this seal could be leaking.  Has anyone ever used any type of oil seal conditioner for this particular seal?  Is this a seal that anyone has had to replace?  I guess the age rather than mileage is the problem (1992-80,000 miles).

Our experience shows using seal conditioners just softens the seal material, it will slow a leak for a short time, then you have to replace the seal as it has now deteriorated to the point of being useless and leaking worse than original before the additive.

I would either drive it or replace it, but not try a miracle in a can.

I've had a seeping rear main seal since I bought my coach four years and 55,000 miles ago.  There has been no change.  I agree to not add anything to the oil.
