Toad emblems

I recently ordered and received 2 of the 6-inch toad emblems to put inthe back side windows of my Cobalt.

What I have received is 2 emblems exactly alike, so that to install them, one has to be upside down or pointing to the rear of the car.

If anyone has a loose set, I would trade one emblem so that each of us has a "correct" set.

My only alternative to get a proper set is to order another set. However, if I got the same set I have, I still could not install emblems on both rear windows correctly.

I'm guessing those are the gold Motorcade/Foretravel logo emblems?  We saw a few toads with them at the Texas Grandvention but haven't ever seen them for sale.

The emblems look exactly like the Foretravel logo at the top of this page:

                            http://www.foretravel.com/

The oval and its contents. They are 6 inches high. The emblems are available from the Foretravel Motorcade club for $8 per pair (plus shipping) in various colors.

I am NOT talking about the gold emblems which are very expensive ($50 each plus shipping from the parts department).

I am somewhat surprised some forum members are unaware of their availability. :o

Just a guess ... but I think the "arrows" will always only be pointing in one direction?  A logo is a logo is a logo .... usually not "reversible".

Agree.  And I like to thing that both logos are pointing forward.  We are, after all, a forward thinking group. :D :D :D

Carol,

CORRECT.  Standard approach is to turn one side upside down.

I have considered doing that that, but it ain't right!

I will probably just get my local decal friend to make me two that WILL install correctly. It might be interesting to ask him for a quantity price, if anyone else is interested. Would need to be all of one color (gold?) to get a deal.

Well, I checked out my decal guy today: He says about $30 for computer time fixing the emblems so they are correct - facing front on each side. And then the emblems would cost about $5 each in colors like siver, red, etc. He has some real gold he can cut for the emblems (his gold stock looks really nice) and in gold would cost about$10 each.

The math: 10 GOLD sets = $30 + $200 = $230 / 10 = $23 a set + postage & envelope.

10 sets in color (silver, red, black, etc.) = $30 + $100 = $130 / 10 = $13 a set + postage and envelope. I do not think a mix of colors would increase the price, but I need to check on that.

Carol,

You are right-on.  Maybe an attorney/member can shed some light on the subject.  The use of an emblem or any part thereof would infringe on the trademark w/o the trademark holder's consent.  This usually applies in the case of a for profit commercial enterprise.  If contractually agreed, the trademark owner allows the use of the trademark for a related purpose for a royalty.  But since the ForeForums is not a for profit organization, I have no idea how FOT would handle such a request.

IMHO, I would not design anything with any portion of the Foretravel logo w/o FOT's consent.

Just to be clear - ForeForums isn't involved in the decal request/work that Duane is investigating.

This may be an exaggerated example, but if, for instance, you were a Disney lover and you happily decorated your coach with several of the Dwarves and Snow White  ... and did not use a licensed image provided by Disney and approved by them for use on a private vehicle ... they would come after you so fast it would make your head swim.  It would not matter to them if you were for profit or just a private party.  Even though a Foretravel owner wants to amend the Foretravel logo with the very best of intentions, to do so without express permission is not a good idea.

Duane,

I hope you didn't take my post the wrong way - we think it's wonderful what you're trying to do for those who want to get emblems and in different colors.  I just wanted to make sure folks understood that Steve and I aren't set up to order a bunch and then resell them as a "ForeForum" benefit.  Some of the posts were talking about the ForeForum logo in this same thread and it was getting a bit confusing.
